Throw 35k worth of exotic lightweight/stronger material at the stang and I'm sure you can get it down to 3k or less

Yeah, except I'm sure that just because the M4 RETAILS for twice as much, it actually costs 2x to produce...
Markups on those things are supposedly huge, so in reality the actual cost of the two cars is a lot closer than you think.

New Mustang is suppose to be 3800lbs with V8? Heh, That's still lighter than My 2003 Passat W8 which weighs in at almost 3900lbs... when can I buy one?
I think the Current GT weighs 3,600lbs. The Outgoing M3 weighed about the same while the new M(well 4 now for the 2 door coupe) is about 200lbs lighter at 3,400lbs. Hopefully the 6G matches those #s.

I highly doubt it's too much more.

If I have to take a guess, a fully loaded GT will probably be around 3550lbs. The latest M4 which has about the same dimension if only slightly smaller weighs about 3400lbs so 3550lbs is not too unreasonable.
You can't compare an M4 to a Mustang and I agree with Pill, 3700 is probably where it's headed fully loaded.

You realize the s197 could keep up with m3's on the track

What you think it's gonna do with all these suspension changes? Slow down?

3700 lbs would probably have me looking elsewhere.
I look at like this.....this car added IRS, thats a weight gain then they added lightweight fenders to offset some of the weight up front. They will bump up the HP to offset the weight some more (in hindsight, not taken literal). It's a strategy really. In the end most won't care about the weight because the car will handle better and be slightly faster (2015 that is).

I understand that. Weight distribution probably is going to be better. But the car getting even heavier would have me looking elsewhere. I don't need a coupe that outweighs my AWD sedan.

There are alternatives, just nothing from the factory...
LS swapped BRZs are the shit as far as weight and power are concerned :)

Weight generally does that.
Yea, and increased suspension counters that, quite a bit if it only gains a whipping 100 pounds for redoing all the suspension
