If you're tick is DI or pump related no amount of oil changes, weight, or liquid moly will do anything.I live in East Texas which gets pretty hot too. What weight does it come with?

If it ticks during the first two minutes after a cold startup, then replacing 5W20 with 5W30 won't cure it.I just did my first oil change at just under 5000 miles and used a 5w20 full synthetic. Noticed the sound within the first 2 min of startup. So far I have found to be super intermittent, ticks less than it doesn’t.
What I find most interesting is the conflicting info, both from people on forums and from Ford.
Forum posts almost all say 5w20, my filler cap says 5w20, but my owner manual specs 5w30 or 50 for track use.
I will switch to 5w30 on the next change. Likely sooner than later
Make sure you throw on a matching 5W30 oil cap.I have read through many of these threads regarding the “tick” many opinions and “possible” solutions?

Yes, probably should ...,maybe Ford could have matched the cap with their manual specs.Make sure you throw on a matching 5W30 oil cap.![]()
Not really my point. Just pointing out that many here and on other forums post 5w20 as per Ford specs, as well my fill cap. I’ve even read posts saying that using 5/30 could do harm or void the warranty. If it ticks during the first two minutes after a cold startup, then replacing 5W20 with 5W30 won't cure it.
Hey, which year is your car? And where do you live? And yes, change the cap, like I didmy owner manual specs 5w30, or 5w50 for track use.
Indeed, since both are 5W when cold. That almost proves Ford is using something else than 5/20 as a factory fill. Hmmm. I'm going to use M1 0W30, and see what happens. And no, I didn't find a 0w30 cap, or I'd have bought that instead. Ha ha.If it ticks during the first two minutes after a cold startup, then replacing 5W20 with 5W30 won't cure it.
You were looking at the specs for the 2.3 Ecoboost. Look again. The 50. Coyote uses 5W-20 & 30 for the track. Not really my point. Manual says otherwise. So replacing it 5/30 would only be to match what it says, not to cure it.
All that said, it doesn’t make sense that for 5000 miles and up until the change, no tick. New oil and filter....Bam! there it is
Liquid Moly brand products have been used for years. I do not recall a single member ever having an issue with a dealer regarding the use of Ceratec. My service manager actually like it and uses it.As a closing thought, I really hope I don't have to use any freaking oil additives, because those are NOT approved anywhere. And at least in the case of Ceratec, it'd be absolutely obvious there's something in the oil, due to its creamy color. Not good.
I was referring to an engine warranty claim. THAT is when it'd most likely become an issueLiquid Moly brand products have been used for years. I do not recall a single member ever having an issue with a dealer regarding the use of Ceratec.
Funny, that’s what I was referring to as well.I was referring to an engine warranty claim. THAT is when it'd most likely become an issue.
PLEASE! Name ONE person here who has had engine failure and Ceratec, and which dealer approved the work. I didn't think so. And just read again the BS claim you made: 'I do not recall a single member ever having an issue with a dealer regarding the use of Ceratec'.Funny, that’s what I was referring to as well.
Calm down JC. That was my point. The great majority of threads on here are complaints. About Ford, about the dealers, about the weather. Do a search and find me someone who had a warranty claim refused for an oil additive. There could be one. I’ve been on here for five years and do not remember one.PLEASE!
