Left side engine tick (not normal tick)

Major valve ticking. Most times I will start it up and it will not go away. Then other times I will start it up and it will tick and then the engine will surge then the tick goes away. I pulled valve cover and found a cap was loose, so I tightened it up and it still ticks. It only om the left side of the engine. It has cams and boundry gears installed and it did not do this after installation. It seems like that side is not getting oil and it's making it tick I don't know? Any ideas what to check?

Far, far from an expert but back in the day those symptoms would have made me think "collapsed lifter". Did you replace lifters when you did cams?
I'd think if you weren't getting oil on one side you'd have a lot more than just a single tick.

I would have have but it only has 25k miles on them.
