lol...going out to car to try! Nope didn't werk, fob in right pocket with leg against car while closing door--two loud OBNOXIOUS beeps. The other way works like a charm.
Thanks. It was worth a shot. I think on the rare occasion I have to get out and leave the car running I'd prefer to leave the door slightly ajar.

Hopefully if enough people complain about it, the aftermarket will find a fix. I don't have much confidence in Ford fixing this anytime soon if at all.

Hold fob in upper right corner of door frame when you get out. Close door and pull the fob out of the way at the last second. No beeps.
I tweaked your method...hold key fob at front edge of rear quarter glass, close door...done!

A little off topic but does the engine turn off at some point with no key fob present?
I know I've gone inside w/fob for at least 15 minutes with the engine running. I'd be surprised if it did as a safety issue.

That's not related to the fob though - it turns off (if in neutral or park) regardless of its presence. If someone drives off w/out the fob the car isn't going to just turn off is my point.

Just an update... in park n nuetral.. noone goes out the car without putting in park/nuetral.. and keeping the engine on... i don remeber that i am foolsih enough to keep my car in drive and jump out of my door and bang my car..... of its manual...then please explain how are you going to leave ur car without puttin in nuetral...

and now 1. noone can enter your car. while fob is not arn the car (assuming u r carrying fob, and if fob is left in car then its stupidity and asking for being stolen). 2. If ur fob is not arn, and mind u i have tried and if some gets in car and tries to move... it starts alarm. adn shuts down the car

I never said anything about getting out of the car in gear, but I'm glad you aren't that foolish. Previous cars I've had allowed you to drive off if the engine was already running w/out the fob present. I haven't tested it on this one and merely made the statement I doubted it would be any different from a safety standpoint. I stand corrected.

Is this something a tuner could disable? I usually start my car before I go and clean off the snow and it was pretty late at night. What a pain in the ass.

The best thing I have found to do in these situations where you are not leaving the car (or are not concerned about leaving the car), is to just not fully close the door - then you do not get the beeps.

It doesn't beep when you leave the fob in the car, which is akin to leaving your car running with an actual key in the ignition.

There's the answer right there. Leave the fob in the car if you're going to step out of the car briefly while it's running and it won't honk.

And, those with automatic transmissions have remote start from the factory, so those icy morning warmups can be done easy enough. Manual trans? Well, there's always an aftermarket remote start.

My local dealer put a car in a pond when the owner modified his car to work with remote start and did not tell them. They double pressed the remove button and it started his car...which was in gear :headbonk:

I know it is a first world problem, but taking the fob out of my pocket is a pain and having to do so somewhat defeats the purpose of the intelligent key w/push start.

I find it easier to not fully close the door.
