So ...I have major aspirations/pipe dreams for my 21 Gt .... I NEVER see a s550 with side exit exhaust ...and I want to create one .. I know Cervini's makes one so I know it can be done ..and yea I could just buy one of them and be done ...but I am not paying 2,000$ for it when I can just look at it and copy the thing my self and do it. I just wonder if anyone else on here has attempted it at all.

If it's so easy to just "copy the thing myself and do it", what does it matter if anyone else here has "attempted" it?

I mean, you've got all the welding, pipe-bending and finishing equipment/skills, so hop to it.

look into boom tubes, they will give you ground clearance and then bc of how large they are all the volume you need bc they are only like an inch thick

Mine was a Sherrod conversion and came with this. It WAS factory exhaust, into a magnaflow resonator, to a 90 degree bend with those tips, and the custom fiberglass side skirts. I had to have the Corsa mid pipes raduised in order to make them line up when I added the long tubes.

If you have inspections yearly . You might want to keep the rear exit exhaust and put your side exit on an electric cut out .

We've built more than a few fully custom side exit exhaust systems. Never on any S550s.
So I should start by saying that your not really getting much help from us on this.

I have no interest in doing a side style exh on our own s550, so we've never even looked at it underneath.
That said, the suggestion in an above post of installing side exit cut outs, will certainly be the easiest & least expensive. Giving you the typical stk exhaust features when needed, from both a Johhny Law or the emissions Knotzi's perspective.

We almost always custom mufflers built to our own drawing files/specs to achieve the best packaging & fitment.

Someone mentioned above how you already have all the equipment to do this job? Takes a mandrel tubing bender at that- like a #2 Pines or equivalent with bullet tooling. We have everything it takes to build a car from the ground up, & although I've contemplated buying a mandrel bender often, it's very very difficult to pay for it doing custom work as we do. It's really a production bender at many tens of thousands of dollars.

Unless they mean a typical muffler shop style bender? That will work, but that's not giving you a very efficient exhaust system. The cross sectional area depletion is very undesirable.
We built all our custom headers and exhaust systems with mandrel 'J' & 'U' bends. Muffler benders are just to restrictive in the finished bend,, to use in performance applications. Our opinion, so most here may feel differently. That's fine.

We find using custom mufflers makes this type job easier.
Building a configuration you have spec'd to fit a particular veh, when u can define your inlet/outlet sizes & locations of both. We've used aftermarket oval tubing pcs in past, but try to stick with round exh tube when at all possible. For all the obvious reasons. If you have never worked with it, you will see what we mean after you get your 1st system done while using it. You can make your own version with a lot of cutting, welding & fab work.
It may work for you if you have time, vs the added cost of buying that material finish out.

1ST thing I'd want to know, regarding the folks who already offer a working design for an s550.
Where are the mufflers located on the version that's available fir purchase.

The muffler location is the part of the build (for us anyway) that everything revolves around.
Except perhaps, mufflers on a vehicle that's 2 story's off the ground to begin with.

If you're not building your own headers as we sometimes did, then it's easier.
Cut outs added to existing exh can get you up & driving in qwik fashion. Yet I get it if you're vision of the build is not going that direction.

Let us know what you decide to go forward,
how difficult it appears to be,
& what look to be the biggest hurdles from your perspective.
Be a cool project. 😎
G/L 👍

I actually have this mid pipe installed on an otherwise factory exhaust. It is nice because it comes with baffles that have a hold drilled in the middle. You can use the baffles it comes with as is, drill the hole bigger, or just remove them to tailor the volume to what you want.

My car is only a weekend cruiser so I have them removed, not crazy loud but loud enough. No real drone either.

They do make QTP cutouts for the boss exhaust and eventually I want to buy those.

My wife used to go to a lot of craft fairs, and she told me one time that there were always people with signs on the table reading "Sure, you can do it yourself, but are you really going to?"
