It's in the 30's here. It doesn't move until things are up to temperature.

Anyone know if cutting the wires to the horns will cause a "malfunction"?
I guess one could run a wire from the horn with a switch under the dash...

Or get a SPDT relay and when the parking brake light is triggered, it cuts the horn?
One can wire the relay so that it closes the horn wiring when there is no power (to the relay), and when the parking brake light goes on, it "opens" the circuit, preventing the horn from sounding.

Once you turn off the car, since there is no power (to the relay) because the parking brake light will not stay on in the dash when the engine is off, it will keep the horn circuit closed, so if alarm goes off, the horn will still sound...? The panic button would technically still work too...

It doesn't beep when you leave the fob in the car, which is akin to leaving your car running with an actual key in the ignition.

On my accord when I get out with the engine running, six days a week to check the community mailbox, it just beeps two warning notes, not through the horn just enough so I can hear it but not the neighbors. Sure hope someone finds a fix for the mustang, honking the horn is a little overboard in my opinion.

I keep the key in my pocket when I run out and turn on the car 5 min before I leave in the morning... I wouldn't wan to leave the key in the car, albeit I read in the manual somewhere that the car CAN be driven if it was turned on, and is missing the key.

My genesis used to be the same, if you don't have key but car was on, it WOULD let you drive it, but once you turn engine off, that's it.

But in both case, there is a large warning on dash that says something to the effect of "MISSING KEY" The opportunistic person walking by my driveway would (hopefully) think that it wouldn't be drivable...

It's a simple thing to do and put your key on the center console... Especially is you have a passenger in the vehicle... ..so what if the horn goes off... if someone stole your car with your keys still in the pocket... my guess is the car will eventually shut down?

The point is, it's damn nice never having to take your key or you phone out of your pocket for anything. If Ford insists on an audible warning if I want to get out for a second to check my mail etc, why not a semi quiet chirp, not two loud horn blasts.

Again, car is locked so how would one drive it away? Car is always locked unless a key is in range, no one is driving your car without a key.

Off topic...has anyone notice it is impossible to chrip the horn?

Mine does not lock automatically when I get out.

I'd like to find a way to have an alternate horn/alarm for both the fob walk away and double click to lock. Unfortunately I think the bcm comes into play and won't allow this though...

Whatever happened to a proactive anti theft by the owner... I would not want to leave the engine running.. Especially in a questionable area... if someone were to drive off with it while you left it running... guess whose fault that was?

How would they get in it? Mine locks the instant I step away from the car.

Is the key in the car or on your person.? Do you have your autolock turned off?

I keep my fob in my pocket 90% of the time. When I get out of my car to get my mail, I don't need the horn beeping. When I step out to walk around the other side to open the door for my girlfriend, I don't need to be warned with a 95db double beep I left it running. I'm an adult and don't need the nanny alarm.
