Im concerned about MPG. not because i care, but south florida to delaware, i had to stop every 2 hrs for fuel.. that was a PITA getting home. I may have to custom order a truck now as well. final piece to the puzzle, GT500+ Explorer ST, and now Raptor/Limited or F250..

Not sure there is a truck out there that can go much more than 2 hrs for fuel pulling the trailer.

My excursion is 44 gal, 7.3L diesel and I am at 2.5 to 3 hrs for fuel.

Does your truck have the 36 gallon tank? I need to pee WAY before the truck needs gas lol.

Just upgrade the size of the fuel tank. I have one of these on my truck. Doubled the capacity.

I'll let OP comment on his fuel usage, but thought I'd offer a data point.

F150 with the max tow package gets the 3.5 ecoboost and 36gal (vs 26gal standard) fuel tank. I see around 12.5-13.5mpg with my open trailer using cruise and running the speed limit. I suspect I could get an extra 0.5-1 mpg if I didn't use cruise.

So with that combo 400mi on a tank of gas for me is no problem. I usually like to stop every 200mi anyways just to take a break, regardless of whether I need fuel.

I didn't need to order mine. There were plenty out there on dealer lots.

What is the drop F and R of the CFTP springs vs base?

no, mine is the 2.7eco ,, thats where a lot of the issue comes. at the time, i had a 3500lb trailer and a 2500lb race car.. now its 4500lb trailer and 4200lb race car. Plus i drive faster than you guys probably do, i like to cruise at 70, i was getting 9mpg. I would just upgrade the tank, but its still a tiny motor, as well as a want a supercrew cab. so newer truck, bigger tank, super crew, 3.5..

I rip right along at 70 as well. I hear you loud and clear, you are speaking my language. I couldn't live without the crew cab, and 3.5 EcoBoost is a must towing long distances, and so is the 36 gallon tank. My trailer only weighs 3,250, but when you add the 4,300 (ish) car and all the other goodies loaded in, you are getting up there.

I have a friend in S. Fl, towing his GT500 with a relatively new F350 SRW Diesel. We were talking about "convoying" up to Atlanta this weekend until he told me he tows at 80. Guess I will be behind him.

As a long-time SD owner, I can easily see being able to maintain that speed BUT, I wouldn't want to have to try and stop it.

I just filmed this video on Sunday... it shows my trailer setup quite well. I pull with a 2010 5.4 F150 super crew cab. I have a 20’ V-nose, dove tail steel enclosed trailer with a driver’s side exit door. I specifically looked for a 20’ V-nose since I am pulling with an F150. A flat front trailer adds a lot of drag. I drove about 1+15 each way and averaged 9 mpg. Keep in mind that as you add length to the trailer, not only do you add weight, but you add surface for crosswinds to grab. A 20’ trailer works great to haul Mustangs around. I hauled my 1st 2020 home from the dealer in this trailer and will haul the 2nd one home as well.

Sounds like an ego-driven statement regarding speed. I've towed over 20k miles on my '17 Raptor with an 8k lbs enclosed trailer. I've towed it on flat surfaces at 55 in the middle of nowhere and at 80 through mountain passes in CA. Ranges 8.4-12mpg depending on the conditions and speed.

FWIW, my dad has a 2017 Super Duty and we've towed the same trailer and car. Gas mileage sucks just about as bad and it doesn't tow any faster any better (in regards to power). They both downshift at the same points, etc. Mileage averaged 0.5-1 MPG better, but the raptor has the bigger tank. The super duty improvements are in stability from the bigger wheelbase and stiffer springs.

I had originally ordered mine as a 20' V nose, but decided to add 2' and make it 22' plus V nose. Mine also has the sloping roof line to help with drag.

22’ sounds like a nice length trailer. I see people often going for a 24’, which is fine behind an F250/2500, but that’s bigger than I prefer for my tow package F150. The sloped front or V nose definitely helps!

Regarding the CFTP... thanks! I too look forward to seeing it. It has a build date of July 8th and I’m expecting it mid August. It’s going to be a long couple of months sans 2020!
