For the last 7 years I've been using U-haul car haulers to transport my Boss 302 to the track. I love how easy these trailers are. I've had to modify how I load the car a bit as it sits lower than stock but works great and I don't have to invest in a trailer.

I plan on trailering my GT500 CFTP and I think it's too wide to fit on the U-haul and sits 1/2" lower than the Boss 302. Good friend of mine has a car trailer and offered it's use. Excellent.

When I had the GT500 on a rack a couple weeks back I found some hook points on the frame of the GT500 near the front of the chassis but nothing on the rear. So that begs the question. Have any of you guys put the GT500 on a trailer and if so how did you mount it? I'm thinking of straps around the wheels but am not in love with that idea as it could scratch them up a bit.

Do you have any other wheels you could throw on that you wouldn’t have to worry about? Just an idea.

These are an inexpensive / easy way to add some hook points.

May or may not work with jacking rails depending on how far back your jacking rails go.
The ford tie down hooks above work on the 500. I used them when I brought my car back from the dealer.

Can you just use these in the factory oblong holes? That's what I use to strap my 2016 GTPP.

Now I have Mac straps with t-hooks ends. Mac made me a set for the front for approximately $40 shipped.

The front hooks interfere with jacking rails. That’s why I purchased the Mac straps. I still use the rear hooks.

I hauled mine home from the dealer on a uhaul trailer. Had to cut 2x10 boards and let the car sit on those to get the front end over the front stops on the trailer. That was before I installed the splitter but if you had to stack 2 boards I think that would work too. Also raise the front of the trailer as high as possible when loading the car for lowest approach angle.

That's fantastic news. I have to put a 1" board under the front tires on the Boss as well or it won't clear the splitter. I was worried the car would be too wide for the u-haul.

As other said, it fits on the U-haul trailer. I did not have the splitter installed, and I put 2x8 wood under from tires for enough height to clear the front of the trailer. I do not think I could have double stacked the wood, because there wouldn't be enough strap length the reach the wider-upper.

Sorry about the sideways video, my son was recording and didn't know better. But you get the idea. This was December 2019.

Your son did a fine job. Just like the Boss a 1" piece of lumber under those front tires will lift it high enough to clear. I'm very curious about those custom ramps you made. Can you PM me a picture and how you built them?

As a side note - classic how the truck and car match in color. Nicely done. Also completely classic that you took it home in a snow storm. My buddy brought his GT500 home last year, trailered, in a snow storm (I helped) and I gave him crap about it for months
