I'm coming back to this thread to change my view of the cars speed. I have now decided its as fast as Hell :) Maybe I just had to get used to it or break it in more I don't know but damn this thing hauls!
Yo! Yeah 11 second factory stangs with zero to minimal mods do not suck. Cheers! Be safe.

I said this in another thread. Here is where my age is showing, but the ultra low compression cars of the 70's and 80's were absolute slugs. V-8's making 170 HP. Ugh.

Compared to these dinosaur's, the 18 Mustang I have feels like a rocket.

I posted about what we are getting in a new GT in another thread, but hear goes again.
For me, owning a new GT is nervana! I have a GT pp1 a10 301a, and love it. I have fond memorys of my first "fast" car, a base model 68 Coronet 2dr Dodge with four options. 383 4bbl motor, 4 speed, radio and dog dish hubcaps. It came with rubber floor mats. Probably would run 15.0 1/4 mile at 94 mph? And at 120 mph it started to osilate so the tale lights looked like the y were going in 10 inch circles!
My, how things have improved!!

Passing power on the highway seems like more than 460hp to me. Trapping 119mph in a 3700lb car does also

I had a "max wedge" Coronet 2 dr in the early 60s. It had a 426 with cross ram and 2 4s, Hurst competition Plus 4 speed, aluminum hood, bumpers and dog dish hubcaps. It had picnic tablecloth upholstery, 2 batteries in the trunk and a horrible ride. It was as crude and noisy as you could get and weighed 3200 lbs. It ran 13s and got 4 miles per gallon of Sunoco 260. How times have changed!

After owning my '19 for 2 months, I'm convinced the difference between my 435HP '16 is way higher than 25HP. I mean, even if that number is accurate, the mix of the A10, torque, power across the RPM range certainly makes a difference, but just pure seat-of-the-pants, it feels WAY stronger.

Now with a tune it feels like it's a solid 70+ more HP and has a shift kit :D

She is pretty squishy in normal but start upping the mode and stiffening her up, she will respond favorably. I am enjoying myself immensely.

Just an observation, but the car just doesn't feel like it has 460hp. It just doesn't seem fast enough for the power rating. I almost wonder if they're a bit generous with the rating from the factory... Car is a 10 speed with 3.55's, I even run 94 octane.

I absolutely love the car, it just feels slower than it's rated for.
its because your confusing hp and low rpm torque...

And no disrespect but you arent getting the design objective of the S550. it's not designed to be a traditional muscle car, or for drag racing... It can do that roll but that was never why it was built.

The engine this car has matches the chassis perfectly.

A coyote isnt designed like an LS and isnt intended to be an LS... the coyote is designed to rev, it's more of a road racing and driver's motor. The motor makes sense if you are someone who is a momentum style driver. Not someone who points and shoots.

If you like twisty roads then you'll get why the coyote rocks.

The LS is more of an old school, drag racing motor... GMs approach is not about momentum, but grunt.

The reason the car doesnt "feel fast" is the super broad torque curve these engines have. It doesnt have any peaks that fool you.

Still our torque curve is nothing like an LS motor, but thats ok...these engines are optimized to be high revving. That's why we have 4 cams and 32 valves... Its why we have the short stroke and large bores.

Its like comparing a Ducati pannigale 1190 to a BMW s1000rr

ones not better than the other It's just a different approach. Ford isnt lying, you just have to change your expectations.... If you want to "feel" fast just get a blower, or buy a corvette

My 2012 GT was totalled last September. I bought a 2019 GT and I just don't feel it. Am I wrong?
Plus, this no cd player is BULLSHIT. Overall I really want to like this car.

This car's speed is deceptive. Look at the speedo while you are hammering it. Once I did that I realized I was going a lot faster than what I thought I was.

I came from a 400 HP Camaro SS that felt a lot faster out of the hole due to the low end torque but when I compared speeds on the same stretch of road where I liked to play a bit the Mustang absolutely ate its lunch.

Lol. Your feeling the A10. It's still only a 25 horse difference.

Man, this comes up all the time. Its more than 25 horses more, on average. Most likely about 35 or so more, Ford was probably reporting the statistically lowest owners would see. But not more than that. The LT1 Camaro is slightly lighter and its 6M has even taller gear ratios than the mt82-d4, and has 455hp, and is about the same in head to head accel tests with the manual gen3 mustangs in magazine comparisons (no, torque advantages aren’t a huge deal in properly launched drag racing).

the gen3 is an updated, better engine, and the a10 is a game changer. The big advantage with the engine is really it’s awesome potential with e85. The gen2 is particularly stout boosted.

Interestingly enough, several locals did some dyno time (again, locally), documented air temps, etc., and while I still thing there's ovb. some margin of error, the Gen 3s were a good average of ~30-35rwhp higher than the Gen2s, across autos, manuals, etc. In my professional capacity, one of my roles is in data science, so I get making half-assed based on too many variables, small sampling size, but it's not too far off from many of the numbers that have posted here.

This isn't my first rodeo, I've had Mustangs, Vettes, lots of boosted cars (some ~800HP), BMWs, etc., I've got a pretty good butt dyno :D
