I've had this Diesel like clack mostly at idle during warm up from Bank 1 (passengers side) then dissapates to nearly nothing at full temp. I doubt very much this is a common noise amongst the majority of Gen3 mustang owners. I've been looking through this forum for a couple of years but (other than the BBQ/typewriter tick which is a different noise altogether) I haven't seen any talk of it. Does this sound familiar to anyone?

Every cold start or intermittent? Pull the connector for the imrc, see if it goes away.

Do you have headers? Could be an exhaust leak
No I don't, it's coming from cyl3 and its piston slap. Ford won't admit it but that's what it is.

Then scope cylinder 3 and see if there is any scarring. Burning oil? How many miles?

So when I scope the cylinders there is some "streaking" and transfer of the piston coating evident on the cylinder walls but it falls within fords general service bulletins guidelines. Ive got 14000kms. I'm on the road to get a long block but just wanted to survey the forum to see if I'm crazy to have my new car taken apart under warranty.

Hopefully they come through with a longblock. Is it only cyl 3? Do you have pics of the coating transfer?

The darkened area corisponds with the piston coating. Doesn't show well but Its the cylinder in question. BTW when you cancel that cyl the noise reduces/goes away, only happens with cyl 3.

Sounds very similar to mine. I am not saying it's normal because IMO it shouldn't sound like a damn diesel truck.
Mine from April of this year:

It does! Now, does it go away hot? Have you looked into it? Some are louder than others mine gets real nasty at 80 degrees then it used to dissappear completely at 98 Degrees. How long have you had your Diesel Mustang?

Diesel Mustang LOL! I bought my 2019 new. It wasn't this loud when I first got it. This is the noise it makes when it begins to warm up and it's just as loud when hot. It's more quiet when stone cold. Seems to get worse as time goes on. Seriously thinking to inspect the cylinder walls. Or deactivate each cylinder one at a time to isolate the noise.
