I live in the most densely populated county in Florida and have my entire life. I have had everything from teslas to punch buggies try to make a run. Over the years the most common offender seems to be a scat pack owners or lifted shit box trucks, not the nicer ones.
It's pretty funny now days because of all the cars they've made in the past few years. Prior to say, 2015ish? You would rarely get anyone that bothered you. If you did, it would always be a 350/370Z owner.

I am also a Florida resident. I know your pain. These damn lifted trucks. It’s gotta be a pride thing. Like they feel because they are 10 feet of the ground and their truck has a loud exhaust, that they are king of the hill.

Having driven both (and almost buying a Camaro instead of Mustang), totally agree. Very different driving experiences. That Alpha chassis is really good but it’s the less comfortable of the 2 IMO.

I can confirm that there are far more trucks out there that want to race vs cars. To be transparent, my daily is a f150 albeit a lowered standard cab. Every truck and Mopar car on the face of the planet wants to make a hit. I've got more wins in this standard cab than anything I've owned. I'd say 99% of the time, it's initiated by others. Only a few time have I initiated.
While I haven't dropped mine (yet), they're remarkably quick from a dig with the front end engaged.....

I almost bought a ZL1, not as much fear of the engine blowing up out of warranty and it was faster. But I already have a C8 and the Camaro felt more like a challenger than it did sports car. A lead sled with a great engine and 500 extra pounds.

The absolute last thing I'm worried about when driving my mustang is a zl1.

It always the lifted truck guys. Usually Ram owners. It's a small dick thing I guess. 🤷‍♂️
I saw exactly that on my way home from work one day. 😄

A lifted Ram with a sticker that said something about a "gasser", so I concluded that's why his engine was so loud: It was gas, instead of a turbo diesel.
I could tell when he got on and off the gas by the noise, not the acceleration. The noise was WAY out of proportion with how fast he was going.
The lift kit made the truck less stable, the big tires added rotating inertia and screwed up his gear ratio, and what did he do with his engine? Make it loud.
How much power did he have? Not enough.

I was stuck behind him for a few minutes and he was slow going up the slope of the bridge, slow on the downhill side because he was afraid of the curve at the bottom, slow through the curve, and then we finally got to the entrance ramp onto the highway.

His engine noise escalated again, some smoke came out of his tailpipes, the back of the truck squatted a little with the torque, and I changed lanes and watched him shrink in my rear view mirror.
If he was trying to show off his power, my Evo and I beat him up and took his lunch money. 😁

Try owning a superbike. When I had my R1, I had every idiot with a civic with a fart pipe wanting to "race" me.
Hate to break it to you kid, my bike has a power to weight ratio that equalled supercars at the time, unless you put about 3x the price of your car into the engine, don't bother.

Occasionally I would match their revs at the lights and then just putter away as they risked blowing their engine to "beat" me.

My Viper attracts more attention than any bike I ever had, but so far nobody has wanted to race :)
I had a 06 and a 09 cross plane r1 and always somebody trying to race in a v6. Broke a few bones in a wreck sold and bought a 350. Same crowd doing the same activities 😅🤣

You ever think that they love seeing your car and are an enthusiast as well, maybe just don’t have the means to have as nice of a ride?

You are not above anyone else because of the car you drive. Maybe oblige them with a rev or a spirited take off, most of the time that’s all they want. A smile and a wave or a thumbs up go a long way.
This.

My 03 cobra makes around 700rwhp on E85. Most cars and trucks that rev at me aren't that nice or fast. Usually younger people, and I believe they just want a little show. If the time is right, I'll usually give them a little 1st or 2nd gear hit and get the car slightly sideways. The big grin and and thumbs up is priceless. I might have just made someone's day.

I have not had as many people try and instigate my Pani V4R as the Shelby. Pani is about as loud as loud gets with Akras and Ducati Red. Reinforces my belief that most people just want that vroom vroom and aren't looking to race.

Yeah, half the time they motion to rev it.. reason 30 out of 100000 on why I like driving it.. I can see why they wouldn't want to instigate it.. I would like to ride one someday!
