This is a pretty pointless discussion. Most people with an EB will say EB and most with GT will say GT.
Everyone has already justified it to themselves so they'll use the same justifications to you.

You may as well go to a Camaro site and say should I get a Mustang.

Sorry man but you need to make your own decision here. What's your budget for down and payments, how many and white type of miles.

I could have squeezed into a GT but for my budget I decided on the EB Premium... guess what my answer would be.
You're right but it was nice to have a sounding board. we can close this thread anytime.

Out of those choices what are you going to miss the most if you do not get it. Decide that way, always a ying and a yang.

I like the idea of posting the question on Camaro5.. those would be some interesting responses.

No need to close it. It's fine to discuss... anything is better than what we're discussing at the office.

Just expect us to confuse the matter, not clarify

I've been on the build and price site everyday now and I just can't decide.
I will be ordering a 2015 convertible auto premium. Right now it's a GT premium w/50th AP. I'm sitting (with X-plan) at about $46K. I keep building an EB vert, premium, with PP for just under $40K. I've been building a pro/con list:
1. GT=435hp vs EB=310hp. But with tune and add-ons can I get to 350+??
2. PP=19" summer tires vs 50thAP=AS tires. I'm in Chicago burbs so I need AS, but....
3. $6,000 Delta, that's a lot of wheels/tires!!! :clap2:
4. GT is well, a 5.0 liter V8. What else can you say vs EB = 2.3L turbo. Is it enough?
5. GT= $$$$ insurance vs EB= $$ insurance.
My last Mustang was a 2011 GT and yes, I love the power but it's greatest failure was not having IRS. Sure I'm an older guy but I enjoy the entire sports car experience, not just 0-60 or 1/4 mile performance
What are some other opinions, ideas out there.

First... what do you do with your car...?

Secondly, HP does not matter, most people shop torque and that 2.3 twin-scroll is capable of 340ft-lbs+ from 1,600rpms~. Ie: it will pull pretty good from down-low.

Easy choice, really. If driving to you is more important than engine, you can't go wrong with the EB. If you need an overly eager throttle, then v8.
Also, if you've previously owned a Mustang and rarely stepped past 80% throttle, then EB should be a consideration.

Owning a 3.0 twin-scroll (from BMW), I am eager to see/feel what Ford has done with this 2.3 twin-scroll & the IRS.. (though personally am holding out for the SVT.)

They are both great choices but If the Gt is in your mind and within your budget, id get GT all day.. There will be no regret.
If you get the eco, the first time you here a GT roar past you., that's when you will know what a mistake it was.

EB won't sound like V8, and can't be made to. CAI/exhaust on GT and you're over 450hp, so still over 100hp more than tuned EB. 100hp is a lot. You'd be hard pressed to find many $6k mods to pick that up.

Its a good problem to have. Me, I can't decide between the Ecoboost for weekdays and the GT for weekends. I should buy both-but that won't happen-as my wallet would revolt!

That's a good way to look at it. I was thinking "What do I have to mod to get what I want"?
EB+PP I would have to mod wheels/tires, Some suspension, add CAI, FMIC, Tune, etc. Maybe get to 350+hp. Maybe. Still no GT but respectable.
GT+AP I would still add a CAI and tune at least. Wheels I'm ok with, not thrilled with the grill and ass-cap but maybe easy enough to remove. No PP so would have to mod the suspension and add K-brace and strut bar. Would get 50th seats, nice touch but miss out on PP dash w/ gauges.
Why can't Ford just let us build them ale carte?

Well the 09 v6 was a boat anchor, so it's really not a fair comparison to the modern EB. 2011+ engines have really closed the gap as far as throttle fun. Nothing will ever replace the V8 sounds (it'll never sound as good as the old 2v did though) but the EB is going to be a unique motor in Mustang history. Looking to the future, a quirky turbo motor from the 50th anniversary edition will be much more interesting than a run of the mill 5.0.

If the put the sound package only the i4 because of the noise it makes, sure is compelling to get the good sound for your convertible with v6, or v8.

For snow tires Goodyear Ultra Grip are used by our State Police, and I believe much better than blizzaks in real world.

Best,

She was a 1 of 1 build California Special and sadly due to some medical bills I had to let her go. I have a daughter with special needs and she's a 1 of 1 build too, but much more valuable.
With those issues taken care of I am seeing myself back into a vert by next spring. Plenty of time to get test drives in of both an EB and a GT.

From where you sit today, I was thinking "he needs to do a drive to decide". On paper, one can rationalize any of the models. There are pros and cons to each.

For the record, I think the EB is going to feel very similar to my 2010 GT (it has the "old" 315hp, 320ft-lb 3-valve in it). It won't sound the same, of course, but I think it would be good to hear what that is like in person as part of your decision making.

Good luck!
