There are aluminum housings in 3.31/3.55 optioned auto cars as well prior to 2018.

I thought the ECO boost cars got an aluminum rear diff, but the V8 cars had iron.

And yes the Torsen comes in PP cars, but I think all the Torsens are 3.73.

To the OP, I don't think you need to go with 3.55 gears. The 3.73 isn't that much of a difference and should be good.

At least, for me I think the 3.73 is better as far as fun factor goes. Especially if you have a 2018+, you want all the gear you can get due to the manual transmission ratios.

Torsens were all 3.73 from '15-'17. When the Performance Pack got the automatic option in '18 the 3.55 came on a Torsen, too.

I don't know about the MT82-D4 transmissions, but first gear with the MT82(-D5) and a 3.73 is extremely short. ...fun though.

Close, the 6R80 was available with the PP1 on the coupe in 17, so it got the 3.55 gears. In 18 the auto was allowed on the PP1 on a convertible, which also got 3.55's but the new 10R80 trans.

Who gives AF? LOL
I'm sure the OP did 780 days ago. By now he's probably sold up, bought an estate, got married, had kids and now wondering why his inbox is full of Mustang6g replies for a car he can barely remember owning, let alone why he wanted a Torsen diff with 3.55 gears

Going from memory, I think the 2015-2017 GT PP MT82 pumpkins were supposedly iron w/optional Torsen, while the 2015-2017 GT w/ 6R80 was iron with standard trac-lock. The 2015-2017 iron case was bare, so if looking at it, the case will be “rust” color.

2015-2017 EB 6R80 or those with MT82 were strictly aluminum case w/ standard traction lock.

There were many options for the 2015-2017 rear pumpkin depending on the platform chosen. So I am not sure if I’m covering all available case/gear types....

The 2018-2019+ GT PP or EB PP’s all come with iron pumpkins and Torsen.

The 2018-2019+ iron case will be coated black with a cast aluminum rear cover. Also to note, the 2018-2019+ GT/EB PP rear covers will have the included threaded port for the rear axle temp sensor.

A) The 2018-19+ GT w/ MT82 came w/ Torsen and 3.73’s.

B) The 2018/19 GT or EB w/10R80 came w/ Torsen and 3.55’s.

---
TIP:
- If the rear diff has Trac-loc guts, you won't be able to see through it with axles removed. There will be a "bar" in the hole which is for the spider gears.

- If the rear diff has Torsen guts, you'll be able to see through it with axles removed.

2015-2017 GT’s with the 6R80 were all aluminum housings except for PP cars.
