I’m sorry, did I spill some truth on your favorite brand?

tread design, tire compound, and tire construction all matter for how easily a tire will hydroplane and grip in the wet.
No kidding. I've been running every tire imaginable for the last 30 years, and most of them with sufficient tread remaining will get you home in the wet every time when you drive for the conditions.

Do you have any empirical evidence showing a higher percentage of cars with Nitto's crash versus Michelin?

The ticket just says driving too fast for the conditions. He wrote out in the comments that I was going 70.
Basically dangerous driving, you weren't compensating for the weather conditions. You might want to fight that ticket, knowing how bad American insurance companies are they may try to only pay out for third party damages. Can you squeeze in "kph" after the 70 ? :fingerscrossed:

Go read the reviews on any of the big online tire sites for yourself. Hang around the tire forum for years here. You’ll hear the same feedback.

Bummer man. Next time, don't get Nittos. As mentioned they really are shit in the rain. Cheap tires which have a much better word of mouth reputation with people who don't actually try a lot of the current good tires. Nitto's street tires are older designs which really aren't up to speed with the current tire technology that other manufacturers are using.

But I didn't come to rub it in about the tires. I came in to say - If you had valuable mods, you can ask about buying it back. Basically insurance will pay you a somewhat reduced amount, but you'll own the salvage and can deal with parting it out on your own time. It can be a lot of work, but you can come out ahead IF you had stuff in good condition that people will want to buy. I did that one time and was kind of surprised how much the insurance still paid.

I crashed a Mazda RX-7 with Nitto tires in a rainstorm in Florida in the early 80’s. Nitto was fairly new then. Won’t buy them again. Good looking and the price was good. I was broke, in my early 20’s so it worked. The dry handling was pretty good though. I think they were the 5 something model if I remember.
IMO, the Pirelli PZero on my 2016 PP were no bargain either. They were dangerous yet still better than the Nitto in the rain.

Oddly the stock P Zeros did all right for me in inclement weather. I got caught in a snow storm in the North Carolina mountains with P Zeros with about half tread and I was pretty surprised how well they did. I did slow down considerably and used the rain/snow setting but when the snow started I actually figured I'd be lucky to not wreck. I no longer buy them because they just wear to fast for a daily driver. I'm running Continentals now and have been pretty happy.

He asked and I answered like a dumb ass.
Sorry about your accident and glad you are OK!!

I was travelling through Texas two years ago in a Honda Accord with NY plates and
in an 80 MPH zone with my cruise set to 81 MPH and was stopped by State Police for
speeding!! He did not give me a ticket, just a warning and said Texas is a "zero
tolerance State" for speeding!!

I believe yours are all season PZero. I’m referring to the PZero performance pack summer tires OEM on 2015-17 performance pack mustangs 255/275 X 19. But nice ride!

They fight the ticket for you so you dont have to, they will make sure you dont get any point or have to do traffic school. My brother in law is a ticket magnet, he gets about 3 to 4 tickets a year and so far they have won every single one for him.

If that really is the case, cops in Georgia must not know how to write tickets…
Sorry, I don’t buy it… winning once in a while.. ok
3, 4 times a year.. no way
