I have an appointment to take the Convertible in on Monday not only for the "lack of cooling" seats, but for vibration. Even when I'm at a stop light, the rear view mirror shakes, the cars behind you are blurry. You can feel it in the drivers seat, and you can definitely see it in the passenger seat.

Quick update: I spoke with someone at Ford Customer service today who apologized for my dealer (who dismissed me the first time with "only the bottoms cool") and told me the Ford engineers are aware that the cooling on the seat back is not working as expected and are "investigating". Let's hope they find this diagnostics that happened in this forum and that they actually issue a TSB to correct it. I'm going to give them a few months to work out the fix and if there is still none, I'll bring it back to the dealer and/or get in contact with Ford Customer Service again.

Pretty much all of the other minor issues I was having have been taken care, so this is the last on my list. Car drives great though (that V8 even put the 1 year old to sleep with the top down and Rush playing at a good volume).

Here's my guess:

Ford chose an off the shelf cooling system from the Fusion or such which was marginal in that car. That car had under seat AC ducts for cooling the rear seat passengers. Flow from those ducts cooled the TCU both in the seat and via air flowing up from the rear seat footwell along the rear of the seat back.

In the Mustang, there is no under seat AC duct for the rear seat passengers and air is trapped by the proximity of the seat back to the rear seat bottom. Even worse, contact with the rear seat bottom for tall drivers further insulates one of the TCU. Probably 80% of Fusion's opportunity for heat rejection is lost in Mustang.

I've been having the issue for the past two months since I bought my car. I also thought only the bottoms were cooled. Also, it seems that the leather on both front seats fits loosely on the seat. Either the padding is too small, or the leather is too large for the padding. I've owned my car for two months now w/ 4,000 miles on it and the seats are starting to wrinkle from the leather not being tight on the padding. My current 07 F150 Lariat leather seats started wrinkling after about 4 years 90,000 miles of use. This cars seats are kind of on the cheap side. Going to make an appointment to get it checked out.

I have loose material on the passenger seat also.Dealer replaced bottom seat cover and it was worse. They want me see if it stretches before they try another fix.I guess made the mistake of thinking they should be as nice as the seats in my Infiniti g35.

Hi, I have not been able to take it to the dealership yet as my job makes it very difficult to make time too. I also dont want to take it to the dealership to find out that im gonna be without it and am going to have to pay for a rental/loaner. I have an ESP with first day rental etc.. but i dont know if thatll go into use in during my normal warranty.
Thanks!

Tending to confirm this, 14C724 is the part number for the shared 2013-15 Fusion and 2015 Mustang heated/cooled seat controller.

Will this be a courtesy check by Ford to verify this situation or will we pay for it? Thanks

Viable theory ... having A/C ducts blowing cold air below the seats would most likely help as you have described.

I think the fix for the Mustang is just a dedicated pick-up tube that down down the back and under the seat, as Droid_Junky has proven helps out a lot. That would be the simplest fix for Ford.

Great, MaxInTx! I’m happy to get this escalated for you as well. Please PM me with your VIN, dealer, mileage, full name, and best daytime number.

Let me know if you’d like me to escalate this for you, guys.

It should, PRStang (always double check with your dealer). Make an appointment with them as soon as possible, and I’ll loop in the customer service manager for your area. Send me your info once you make your appointment.

I too am also have an issue with my cooled seats, heck, my seat bottoms don't even cool well. Best way to describe it is that it's similar to an asthmatic breathing through a straw. And honestly I leased my mustang for 2 years... I have a limited time with my car and it's summer and hot about to be cold and snowy within a few months and this "feature" is built into the price of the car... That's why it made me regret getting premium... Too much junk on the car is experiencing issues, had I not bought premium it wouldnt bother me because there wouldn't be anything there to break... So what is going to be done about lease customers??...

I got mine back today from having another dash installed.....and the replacement also has leather bubbling.......looks like it is going back for the 3rd replacement!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

As for seat back cooing......I get the same old "No problem found" --- BECAUSE THEY WON'T SIT IN THE SEAT IN THE HEAT LONG ENOUGH TO FEEL IT HEATING UP!!!!!!!! They simply connect their diagnostic tool and it reads the element in the seat........which means absolutely zip in comparison to what the skin is feeling on the seat.

I do need this escalated!!!! Please!!!!
