Has anyone looked at the arrangement & setup for the seat bottom Peltier unit? Why does it work so much better? Seems like it should have the same "heat removal" problem as the the seat back.

So in order for the upper seats to cool better... do not use the recirculating air for the a/c ... use outside air?
No, what I'm saying is that the seat back unit now sucks air from INSIDE the seat back, and therefore is sucking warm air that is inside the seat back due to the rejected heat from the unit. This problem has nothing to do with A/C settings.

The bottom cushion unit works better because the unit is not trapped inside an enclosed area like the seat back unit is. The cushion unit is exposed to the cabin air, and therefor intakes air that is not being heated up by the unit's rejected heat

The units in the seat backs are trapped inside an enclosed area, and end up sucking the warm rejected air from the unit which causes them to stop cooling or even heat up even more. I know this thread is long, but this has been discussed many times on why the seat backs don't cool like the seat cushions.

People are resistant because we are tired of wasting our time going to dealerships and being treated poorly by them and having them dismiss us without a care. It's very disheartening to go in and be blown off, it's tiring to hear "it's normal, working as designed" when trying to report an issue. If all the other Mustangs on their lot have the same issue they decide that they can't be bothered with us and send us on our way. It's a horrible way to treat customers. We are at the mercy of lazy and complacent dealerships.

Long road trip Saturday so I turned on cruise and pulled my right foot back next to the seat edge. I was wearing shorts and I could feel the bottom seat exhaust blowing on the back of my leg.
Agreed, Ford needs to really address this with some sort of low cost venting.

We WANT it to work as you describe, that means it is venting hot waste air from out of the seat into the cabin where hopefully it can be cooled by the AC system.

I'd be willing to bet there would be an equal improvement to the DroidJunky mod by cutting a hole in the seat exactly where it vents. How Ford thought a few microscopic perforations in the back seat cover were sufficient to vent hot air is beyond me. I'd also be willing to bet that if you had the DroidJunky TED intake mod and a shunt for the exhaust to an open plastic vent in the seat back that the upper TED would work as good as the lower unit. (Unless the units are indeed faulty)

Again, follow the movement in the F150 community. With 10X the sales of the Mustang and with prices often exceeding premium Mustang GT prices, Ford will make it right with those owners first and we will benefit from the "trickle down" effect.

Frankly I have 0 faith that any dealer will fix it. It's a subjective issue that isn't always duplicated and may not even show as a failed component leaving me banging my head against the wall. It's clear that this is an engineering issue. Until ford acknowledges the issue, there will be no "Real" fix and only what hack job a dealer or myself does to make the seat feel cooler. I'll wait and see.
You stated you burned your back with the seats, RockStang. I would think that is something noticeable. Please address this with your dealer and PM me with your VIN, dealer, mileage, full name, and best daytime number. I’ll loop in the customer service manager for your area.

I understand where you’re coming from, PonyGrrrl. However, if we don’t have any documented concerns because customers refuse to go in, there will be no “fix” for a “non-existant” concern. You are all welcome to visit any Ford Dealer of your choice to get this diagnosed and documented.

So basically - any time someone takes their brand new car for delivery they should immediately report the SNAFU'd seat back coolers. Hoping the body panels are all good by the time 2017MY comes around, and now I'm adding properly cooled seats to that list.

Well obviously there should be an easier way to document customers' concerns other than wasting time at useless dealerships.

Couldn't agree more. Especially since the dealerships are separate businesses not getting paid to look at these kinds of diagnoses. "Operating per normal" doesn't get much reimbursement, I don't imagine. Correct me if I am wrong. That said, I need to get my car in and get my oar in the muddy water, for whatever good it will do.

Ford: You have a problem here. You have the same problem with the F150, and likely with the Fusion and some other models. We know it, and you know it. Quit playing word games, put out an official notice that you are working on it, come up with a fix, and then recall the affected cars (not a TSB, this is a bum design and you need to fix it.

Took a 2 hour drive today with my mod in place and it chilled the entire time. Even with the improved version it still seems to concentrate on the upper parts of the seat. I think the air is just taking the path of least resistance. Never felt it warming up and at a certain point it was close to being equal to the bottoms.

I feel where you’re coming from, Stantg Nut. Again, I’m here to help where I can if you need me.

If you’re bringing it in, I’m happy to escalate this for you as well, Old 5 Oh. PM me with your VIN, dealer, mileage, full name, and best daytime number.

Mine is at dealer now for a 2nd dash replacement. I have again asked them to do something about this seat cooling problem..........more than just connecting a computer and reading what the internal seat units are doing.....that does not translate to the actual problem at all.
