50 50 works bestInstead of 50/50 go 60%w/40%c or even 70%w/30%c
Hey all,
It's like 100 degrees lately and I'm wondering if there are any radiator additives that work i could add. I used to use water wetter, but that was like 20 years ago. Got any helpful tech on this subject?
I would think resistance to boiling and steam is mostly handled by the pressure inside the cooling system.Antifreeze keeps it from turning into steam or freezing
That is some fine math. I will take your word for it.I would think resistance to boiling and steam is mostly handled by the pressure inside the cooling system.
50/50 mix only increase the boiling point of pure water by 11°F give or take. 212° vs 223° (this number probably varies slightly depending on type of coolant)
At operating tempature, our cars are around 15-18psi inside the closed loop cooling system (we have a 21 psi max cap)
3°f for every 1 psi above atmosphere. 3° x 16psi=48°
Or I'm wrong. And that's fine too.![]()
