Replacing my thermostat- to replace the lost coolant, I'm going to use distilled water. Will I need any extra additives?

Use the premix 50/50 antifreeze or mix regular antifreeze 50/50 with distilled water.

I'm not replacing all of the fluid, just the small amount that will spill. Do I still need 50/50? I can't just use straight distilled water?

Ideally it would be 50/50. Get the right stuff, safest to just go to your Ford dealer and get a gallon of pre-mixed. If it is really just a small quantity (cup or two) distilled water will be fine.

Gotcha- is the stuff at Ford different than the Motorcraft stuff at Walmart?

Nope, as long as you get the right stuff. Coolant can get weird. Some are comparable, some are not. Just get the appropriate Motorcraft stuff, there is more than one kind.

You are in Florida. Just fill with some distilled water. You will fine.

This.

You will loose roughly 3 qts of fluid, just add distilled water to fill.

Catch the drained fluid in a clean bucket and reuse it...

Read above. If you're in an area that doesn't get freezing weather, throw in some distilled water.

Or, just catch the coolant in a clean bucket and pour it back in.
