Does anyone recommend taking the throttle body off and cleaning it? My CTSVs called for doing it, my 911’s did not. But when I looked at them they had indeed built up some carbon gook or something in and around the TB plate. I used spray solvent to clean them and the car ran a bit better after it. Anyone done this? Car has 46k miles on it now.

I don’t know if this was correct, but I cleaned the throttle body on my 2019 Bullitt using Mass Airflow Sensor Cleamer. Sprayed it on a rag and thoroughly wiped the oil mist off the blade and walls.

Do you have to do a TB adaptation if it’s unplugged to clean and then plugged in again? The 911 had to do it, with some sequence of using the start button.

I didn’t have to and I even removed my tab from the intake manifold.

Thanks. I’m surprised Ford does not have that on the maintenance list. For my V cars I had the sea foam cleaner injected and run through the intake system as the car ran. The TB plate and opening does it dirty. Even odd that Porsche does not call for it. On my 2009 it was dirty and needed a good cleaning.

Do the passenger side oil seperators, have any effect on how clean or dirty the throttle body gets?

I bet that is true, it lost the positioning reference .

If you’re going to clean the TB, use a cleaner that is safe to use on throttle bodies. Do not use a product such as Brake Cleaner, Carb Cleaner, etc… some products are corrosive to the surface of the TB and some TB’s have a special coating on the inside walls and blades to ensure smooth operation.

I’ve always used this product on EFI TB’s without ever an issue:
