CarandDriver: M2 vs GT350

I had a good look at an M2 at the track the other day. Really nice car and I'd love to drive it, but when I poked my head inside I was surprised to see the lack of BMW quality in the cabin. It looked very 350ish to me.

I suppose it's a matter of taste and preference. Personally I think my brother's M240i interior is definitely more luxurious and higher quality than my 350R, but I don't mind. I like the simpler interior of the 350R, but would prefer some carbon fiber in place of the plastic. I'm hoping the 2018 carbon trim coming out for the Mustangs will be able to fit in or be modified to.

R comp tires vs street tire.
Price tag is much more as well.

I agree with this. I see nothing wrong with a M2 vs GT350 comparison. Although I do think with equal drivers a regular GT350 will come out on top more often than not.

CF looks nice, but I think it is being used a bit too much everywhere. I guess I am getting older as I've been thinking about getting the shift/armrest console and dash covered in nice black leather. It's nice to the touch and still classy with not a lot of danger of it going out of style.

I thought it was a whole lot of lame against a gt350.
That bmw is something i wouldnt even glance at on the road. Sorry boring, not a fan of bmw. They all look the same to me. The picture was painted years ago...i fall asleep when im around one.
Not saying that getting sleep is a bad thing.
Maybe BMW, to some, is melatonin.

^ well that's just you isn't it. It's a comparison not your opinion. They're comparing for people to see similarly priced cars in a similar market. Each has their positives and negatives. Other guy said use the R. So those would be the main reasons

I like seeing the "Regular" GT350 in a comparison. Since it has the same tires stock, I think it's a better comparison than an R on Cup 2s.

The M2s look good IMHO.

Even if the M2 is a little quicker around a road course stock, which I don't know if that driver was good enough, consistent enough for that to be known, I'd still rather have the N/A V-8.

Lightning Lap is a complete joke. Multiple drivers driving a handful of cars each, who are SECONDS off each other and the best guy is a few seconds off a pro, testing on multiple days, it's not much better than looking at the results of an HPDE day.

I agree about it being overplayed, but the 350 and 350R don't have a single piece exposed, so I'd just like a little accent.
