Per dealer right now: "It looks like the engine is seized. We are going to start tearing it down to see what caused it"
Correct. But they won’t get to it for at least another week before they even look at it

Yeah, I wouldn't "mess" with jumper or anything else. The car is clearly under warranty unless you somehow put over 36,000 miles in a year.

I had similar problems with my 2015 eco-boost. The dealer told me I was not driving the car enough. The one time it would not start I had just driven 40 miles,. Each time it happened I had the AAA come help me. I took it back to the dealer; I was told they had to "check the drainage of the battery". I no longer have that car, but with hindsight what I need was a new battery

As a best case scenario, it almost seems to be symptomatic of a failed camshaft position sensor.
Kind of think a failed sensor of any kind would not keep the engine from cranking. Sounds like the engine won't crank at all.

Dealer already said engine failure, even though they haven't scoped it or took apart yet

Not a bad outcome. Best of luck to you and your dad.

Update

per dealer: "a spring failed, and a valve dropped in cylinder #5. New engine will be here in 5-7 days (including supercharger)"
Yep, I had a feeling. Best of luck for a quick turnaround buddy.

Doesn't make for a lot of confidence in the valve spring supplier/manufacturer. Two on the forum probably translates into at least a hundred in the larger world.

OP: Glad it turned out in your favor and it doesn't sound like you'll be without her for very long. Best of luck.

Wow buddy. I am happy to hear it's almost over for you, and you get your car back.
Thanks man. Today is 5 weeks to the day since the car got to the shop I believe
