Hmm....I go to the shows to talk about cars. I also like looking at who has done what to their vehicles. I park, grab my chair, and usually sit behind it or across from it so people can feel free to discuss anything they want to discuss. Good or bad. The only thing I set up is my plushy Godzilla on my SC. He is the king of the Mustangs!

At the last car show I went to, I did actually win the best domestic award...but as I said, I just go to have fun and talk cars.
Same. That’s why I made the board, folks like to ask about mods.

You are not supposed to have a board, you are supposed to have telepathy, lol.

Sociopaths are everywhere . Just half to write them off like a tax deduction 😆
He’s one of those guys that thinks if you are not trashing your car on a track you’re not cool. It’s not his first post making fun of cosmetic stuff. 3,538 of us at Carlisle a couple weekends ago would disagree.

Hehe - there's probably not a single larger place with examples of these boards elsewhere on the internet so I thought you'd find it helpful but ok...
I don't think find anything particularly wrong with people enjoying their cars this way, especially if it brings them joy, guys displaying completely stock cars with their Marti report of 1 out of xxxx because of some bizarre color floor mats are little special.

But personally I find practically any modern Mustang short of GTD is so common that I wouldn't ever look at one. I probably see more Mach 1s and Dark Horses than regular ones (for a good reason - they're good).

Are you there to win awards? Showing up to a cars and coffee with that is...tacky. Now if you can win a trophy or some money, I totally get it, and I'd assume something like that is what you are judged on.

Once every 3 or 4 months one of my kids (I have one passenger seat) and I take my car to an evening meet up. I don't think I've ever seen a board, just folks that love cars, from modern to classics. One ends up learning a lot more just by chatting them up. If they had a board I would have no reason to talk to them.

Mostly, I go to car shows only to see cars I used to own.

I’d start promising that any vote for your car guarantees a blowjob from Steve McQueen in the afterlife. That’ll bump your numbers from the boomer crowd FOR SURE!

I thought you were kidding. (BTW I'm not a boomer.)

Yep this stuff is only for the bigger shows where you have a lot of similar cars and guys are interested in all the detailed mods you've made. Going to a Mustang/Camaro only show this weekend at Summit Racing where their local Camaro club votes on an award for Best Mustang, and vice versa. The Camaro guys wouldn't have any idea mine wasn't stock without some help.

My take on car shows is, I only go to the ones that are benefiting a good cause, charity or otherwise. Cruise in type are more my thing. Very rarely to never do I go to one that is just a show for a promoter or whatever. If they have awards, great. I never go for an award, I go to hang out, see cool cars, meet new people and have a good time. I have won a few awards though. One of the last shows I went to and won an award was for an 11 year old boy with terminal brain cancer. He went around and saw all the cars, he sat in mine and revved the guts out of it grinning from ear to ear, and it blew me away that he chose MY car to be his top pick. Sadly he passed away a few days after his 12th birthday just a few weeks ago. That one stung a LOT... I will cherish his trophy all my life.

I put the board on the side of the engine bay by the battery at a show last weekend and lots of people came over to read it and chat. It's small and out of the way, just informative without trying to be big and flashy. Worked exactly as I had imagined and will be a keeper for future shows.

Reviving a super old thread because I didn't want to start a new one just for this... Interested in opinions on "how much is too much" for a car show display. I have a 3D printed Mach logo for the strut power brace that I've used for years and seems to be well received:

I used Microsoft Publisher to create a little summary picture and had it printed on a foam board for $20 with a $9 Amazon frame, it sits OK resting on the coolant tank hose:

And I also have an artist easel that I modified to hold two 11" x 17" frames, it can support both the summary picture and the window sticker without covering TOO much of the engine:

Although I don't have a picture of it, the frames also sit fine on top of each strut but people have to walk around to the side of the car to read them.

Wondering what you car show folks think as far as which things make sense to display. Sometimes when I see someone with a giant 3 foot x 4 foot professionally graphic designed show board surrounded by a thousand trophies it seems a little too over the top.
Seeing the window sticker is always a nice touch. Historical info and origin is cool.
