Cannot get Launch Control "LC" to display

How could oil temp not come up driving the car for hours though?

That's just it - it's not that the physical thing isn't happening, it's that a sensor may not be sensing it.

I've been reminded that there isn't actually an oil temperature sensor; oil temp is kind of inferred from other sensors. But either way: there's a series of things that need to be true in order for LC to come on. One or more of those things either 1) is not happening, or 2) is not being sensed even if it is actually happening in your car.

Maybe it’s different on a euro, but my LC comes on about a mile after a cold start - there’s no way I would class it as warm enough to give it full beans and / or an indicator that the oil is up to temp.

Watching the digi dash, I’m pretty sure it’s based on cylinder head temp as the LC becomes active at the same value every time

No same here. No way in hell oil is up to temp when LC comes on. It takes 10-15 minutes of driving depending on ambient temps for the oil to actually get fully up to temp.

For the past entire year when i was able to use LC, id literally turn the car on and it was up thats what makes no sense, the LC light would ALWAYS be on now you can drive it forever and it will never

For the LC light to come on, the oil temp needs to be 175*, the Launch control box needs to be checked in the track apps menu and TRACTION control needs to be enabled. If traction control is turned off, LC will not work since LC uses traction control to manage wheel spin.

What got me was I kept turning traction control off. I do it out of habit since I have been for years in other cars. I did find out that in track mode I can have launch control on and traction control will be off though. So I just changed update "My Mode" to accommodate that.

You guys are lucky. I can’t get mine to go off, at least in track mode. I mean I can go thru the menu and turn it off but as soon as I power the car down and up again and go into track mode, bam, there it is.

I remembered to check but forgot to post, my LC comes on religiously between 75 and 76 deg C (165F)

Same for me. Your previous post made me curious, so I checked, but forgot to post. It's 75 degrees centigrade for me, too.
But if the cylinder head is at 75 degrees, then the oil cannot be at its full operating temperature yet. This means we cannot take the appearance of the LC icon as an indication that we can now start beating on it.

Indeed, the traction control must be on for the LC to activate. If the TC is off, then it will display "RPM" instead of "LC". I have no idea what that stands for.

"RPM" means revolutions per minute. What RPMs you want LC to hold until you dump the clutch.

Yes, but "revolutions per minute" doesn't seem to make sense in this context, hence my comment. I'm not talking about the LC settings menu, where its meaning is obvious. I'm talking about the place on the dash where "LC" is displayed when the launch control is active and ready to be used.

When the engine is cold, no icon is displayed and the LC is not available. When the engine is deemed warm enough, a small "LC" icon will appear in the lower side of the instrument panel, signalling that from now on it can be used. However, if the traction control is off, then instead of "LC" it will display "RPM". And I don't see what "revolutions per minute" has to do with "launch control not available", so maybe in this case the acronym stands for something else?

My wild guess is that if TC is off, then the Launch Control doesn't really work (because the TC is off), so all you're doing is setting what RPM you want the car to hold.

Yes, I think you're right. I found this in the manual:

I thought the LC was completely inactive without the traction control, but my assumption was wrong. It seems that half of it will still work. It will hold the required RPM, even though it won't be able to do its main job afterwards.
