Does launch cotnrol have to be setup to display "LC"

I had my car into the dealer for misfire codes, and got it back today. Just driving it I noticed a little LC by my odometer. I've never used launch control nor set it up at all, and am wondering if this basically means that while my car was at the dealer... they were launching it.

They might have used it to put a load on the engine while sitting in the service bay to look for the misfire. Instead of having a 2nd tech sitting in the car with one foot on the brake and the other on the gas.
