Thanks for the comments. Yes I would love to see Ford do 'ring times like GM has in the past. I've followed many other vehicles times on the 'ring. It seems like more of a driver challenge than a vehicle challenge, but it is a lot of fun to watch cars run it.

The reason I made the dumb comment about the GTD is because Ford isn't really building a customer version. They are building a few as party favors to hand out to the 1% of the 1%. So times really aren't needed in my cynical opinion. To me the GTD is more of a rolling trophy than it is a functioning vehicle. Almost no one will cruise around for fun in one and put thousands of miles per year on it.

I will never see a GTD on the road. I probably won't even see one at a car show. I haven't seen a Ford GT in person yet.

I’ve seen two. Only got a picture of one though

edit: here’s the second one, I was too busy being a fanboy to actually take pictures. My sales guy called me and told me it was there so I went to check it out:

My buddy took a picture of a blue C8 ZR1 at Woodward this past weekend. It was out roaming the streets!

dealer here in Winchester VA had one for a while.

You can't drive to Chicago to examine the greatest car of all time in the flesh? :)

This is worth a trip IMO

I was actually just saying that to make a point about how important I think lap times are to sales of the actual vehicle (not at all other than maybe bragging rights). But thanks for posting. I would drive across town, but no, I wouldn't drive 6 hours each way to see a Ford GT.

I have seen a few of the mid 2000s version. I saw one at the St. Paul Ford Plant back when that plant was still open and they used to have once a year car shows there. I also saw a couple in Mitchell, South Dakota at Telstar when I was passing through the area going to the Black Hills. That was a really easy stop to make and a very impressive collection for a tiny town.

The thing is, Ford actually made enough of the 2005 era Ford GTs that if you really, really wanted one you could get it. They don't really do that anymore.

The one at CMC is right in my backyard. They get some cool stuff.
You are our designated forum photog. Bring a bib to wipe up your drool.

And while your running around can you go look my n4g eco/pp over? It's at Chicago Auto Place in downers Grove.

As a previous owner of a C7 Z06, I wanted to love the C8. A guy I know got a new C8 Z06 and once I saw the shark on the side I could never unsee it. I was on the highway the other day and for a second thought I was swimming with sharks.

I agree it's vastly over-done and frankly questionable design element. You can have a scoop that is functional without resorting to gigantium. GM artists need to put the crayons down and stop acting like 5yr olds should be their inspiration.

Haha I’ll see what I can do.

edit: did you add the lights down by the lower grille?

no, I didn't do any cosmetics. The intercooler with piping, oil cooler, Unleashed tune, and Brembo were mine. The 3rd owner did the cosmetics and Katzkins I'm guessing. He also did the GT350 style wheels and wide tires. And I'd also guess he's the one who butchered the exhaust. Thankfully I have a brand new FP cat-back I can put back on.

I bought the car for 28.7+TTL and sold it a year later for $26.2. So the current ask is beyond insane. I told the sales guy, I'll give you $24 for it. He didn't much like that offer.

I like the wheels. I don’t know much about that dealer but $24-$25k seems reasonable.
