You do know the GTD is basically the GT3 race car with street clothes on, right? It’s more than just some bolt on body kit stuff…

Yeah it still looks like a Mustang but don’t let the looks fool you. It’s all functional stuff.

Not saying one is better than the other, but by all accounts so far, both the ZR1 and GTD belong in the same supercar conversation

Agreed that 99% of observers will say it’s a Mustang and will confuse it with all the others. That’s pretty much every car to some extent for most non-car folks, ZR1 will be no exception either.

Just a note that may be worth considering if it hasn't already been mentioned. I dont understand the GTD and ZR1 comparisons. Ford wanted to enter a car for the GTD class and part of the rules for that class is that there has to be a road car variant of the vehicle. Same reason why Ford made the GT available for purchase.

The whole marketing of the Mustang GTD is that it will do faster lap times than a 911 GT2. If it doesn’t then it’s just a GT500 with fancy parts.

I could be wrong in all this lol. Just my thoughts

I think it’s high HP, American V8 (and expensive) supercars basically. I don’t think one is necessarily targeting the other but I do think it would be a worthwhile comparison. ZR1 would need to be in aero package form to compete though, IMO. At least around a track.
