Hey folks I just received and installed a Bullitt shift knob. I had a Hurst cue ball shift ball but didn't like the feel of the engraving on the sides (first world problems). After wire brushing off the Loctite I installed the Bullitt ball. I got this MFer tight as hell. I can only turn it 1/4 more turn. This is how it looks

As you can see the ball is above the reverse lock out. Is this normal? I don't think so but not sure. Anyone who has a Bullitt, or the Bullitt ball, can you check yours and see if it is like this? Thanks

That does look like it sits too high, does it feel right when shifting? Try pulling the reverse collar like normal and see if you reach it without having to stretch further than normal. My FP shift knob went on like this, but I wrapped it with masking tape and put on some gloves and was able to slowly turn it a couple more turns with some effort.

I bought the carbon fiber knob for my 2018 GT (not Bullitt) and it sits exactly like that. I also think it should go down farther, but I could feel the transmission starting to twist out of its mount. So that's where mine stays.

Mine's pretty much the same. Just installed a week or so ago. Went from stock knob to Bullitt, so no loctite. It seems to be bottomed out. I had to twist pretty hard to get it lined up.

Pic is really zoomed in. I can look closer when I get home tonight.

Is there a locknut left on the shaft from a previous install ? (Looks like there might be from the photo).

Looks normal to me, similar to what mine looks like. As long as you install it in reverse you're good to go, gives enough room for the pull up to reverse motion needed. Loctite will hold it.

Definitely something not right there. Here is the Bullitt shifter in a Bullitt for reference.

Yeah not sure I want to go any further with this. It all works fine and I probably won't even really notice it. Looking at some of the stock Bullitt pics on the Google Pics link they seem even worse than mine.

I also have the same issue on my 2015 GT. I just received mine from LMR, and have a gap between the knob and the reverse lockout. It is super tight and won't turn any further. I noticed my factory knob also has a similar gap. Did anyone find a solution to this?

Just installed tonight. I had same issues. I was afraid I had started to cross thread. I removed it and inspected the threads and they were fine. The pitch of the threads is the same but I believe the shape of the threads has some interference. after several installations and removals it began to turn with more ease. I kept checking the threads on the stick side and did not observe any damage. I also was sure to go and clean the threads on both parts after each install.

FalconRR, you had a similar issue to the OP or apac? apac must have a locknut still there from a prior knob.

Apparently, the OP's gap is normal.

From the LMR website:
Fitment Note
After installation, there will be a slight gap between the lockout collar and the shift knob. This is completely normal.
