Change your own oil and inspect it guys and gals! I found 2 teeth from the crank sprocket in my oil AGAIN after a new short block. This happened to me in Jan. 22

Here are my new broken teeth :( Should I just sell this thing? The car only has 18k miles and with now be on its 3rd engine after I bring it in. It's also had TSB 19-2140 done and a new window regulator.

Stock car? And this may be an issue with the top end causing pressure on the crank sprocket.

Pretty much. Only a Ford catch can and an H pipe. Never hit the limiter and rarely drive it hard :/

After the next motor, I'd swap in a frpp sprocket and call it a day. I'd be tempted to do the same on the current motor to avoid having to go to a dealer. Im pessimistic on quality of work from dealers in general. Understand opening the motor is not for everyone though so work with what works for you.

Tough position. See if ford will cover a new long block. Maybe drive the engine till it completely fails and then just say you don’t know what happened?

And if you do get a new shortblock have them put in an upgraded sprocket. And replace timing chains ect.

My only thought is that either the cranksprockets have manufacturing errors or your block has an issue causing forces to be put on the sprocket in a way it wasn’t meant to handle (like a strong sideways force).

Last time they gave me a new short block but I'm going to ask for a long block since this is the exact same problem again. The first time I drove the engine hard but couldn't get it to break. Good idea on the upgraded sprocket. What brand would you recommend? I was literally changing the oil today before purchasing AED tune

I think I have the boundary crank sprocket. Any upgraded one should work fine and the dealership should be okay installing it for you but I’m not 100% sure. You may have to sign away your right to a warranty and any damages.

Installing it yourself is time consuming because you have to drop the oil pan, take off the timing cover, and valve covers. In reality at stock power levels it shouldn’t be an issue.

I talked to an advisor at my Ford dealership and they said you would have to bring it in and have them diagnose it then ask Ford to see if Ford will warranty a long block.

Also take off the catch cam before you bring it in.

If they installed any aftermarket cranksprocket it would void your warranty.

Luckily my dealer is fine with mods to an extent. I had the catch can and h pipe on it the first time they replaced the shortblock and they didn't care. My service writer(also the manager) said they wouldn't void warranty work if I only had "a tune and exhaust" when I asked last time. He then recommended VMP do the tuning and e85. He happens to drag race cars as a hobby. I honestly hope it blows up before I can take it in. Something just isn't right. How can this happen every 9k miles? I don't know if I'll ever trust this car sadly.

I wonder
I'd personally just put an aftermarket CS in the existing engine with some new chains. Done.
It's probably not gonna help if the issue is chain related. I wonder if there's an issue with the cam caps or something else in the setup that's causing the tensioners to max out.

Anything is possible I suppose. This happened to his original engine as well. No cam cap issues at that time as his heads were reused.

I'd want a long block, bang it off the rev limiter that sprocket will let go.
