Breaking necks/compliments

Had a really nice compliment on the highway a few weeks back and didn't even talk to the guy.

Was just traveling home with the wife and kid. Cruse control was set and was a really nice day. Car was just recently back from the detailers. I look into my rearview and this nice and tuned GTR is screaming up behind us. I was like ohh nice car and pointed it out to my wife. Guy slows down and pulls along side...looks at the car back and forth and gives me a thumbs up and then punches it.

Makes ya feel good when someone in a 100k car gives your car kudo's ya know .

I snap necks and get compliments every time I drive the car but had a particularly funny compliment this past weekend at a car show. A guy walks up and is taking pics of the car from different angles and finally walks up to me and says "I'm a Chevy guy but damn, you making a brother want to convert" :lol:

That's interesting. I think my wife and kids were a little bit disappointed when I brought home an all-dark-gray car from the dealer. My son (he's 11), especially, would have preferred something like race red. I, on the other hand, am not a showy, "look at me" kind of person and liked the "stealthiness" of the magnetic color. After a while, though, I did start to think it needed that pop, but in a subtle way. I contemplated the black stripe/white pinstripe combo you mentioned, but in the end decided to be slightly more dramatic. It's a bit subdued, though, because of the small volume of color which still fits my personality.

For your DIB car, white or silver stripes will be a bit "showy" or in your face. It will dramatically change the appearance of your car. On the other hand, black stripes with white pinstripe or even red pinstripe like mine, is a way to give it some pizzazz without radically changing the flashiness. Totally up to what you want to accomplish. I'm still partial to the DIB with black/white pinstripe combo, but if I was a younger guy, the white or silver stripes might be more appealing.

As for wheels, I'm not a fan of anything that is chrome or looks like chrome. I don't like shiny chrome bumpers on my truck, and I don't like the shiny "chrome" plastic emblems on these cars, which is why I switched them out to the black. That's also why I will probably always have some sort of black wheel on this car. If I stray at all from that philosophy with the wheels, it would be a simpler black wheel that shows off more of the rotor/caliper. But everyone's taste is different when it comes to wheels so there are hundreds of options out there. However I will say that putting bright, shiny, or colored wheels on a dark colored Mustang is somewhat similar to putting the white/silver stripes on--it is a huge contrast and somewhat in your face. Some people like that, which is cool too. Just not my choice.

I totally understand your thought process. When I say my Kids I'm talking about young adults over the age 18..some thought it was too flashy, others just don't like the look of stripes. I think i would go for the black with white pin stripe... however.. I have another quandry - my wheels- I have the stock wheels with Perelli tires and I am anxious to replace them next spring.. the problem is that i don't really like chrome, black or the silver/gun-metal wheels- I really want something with some color so I am contemplating a bronze either matte or gloss and then possibly switching out the 5.0 badges for a bronze color as well...I have also contemplated doing the hood vents in bronze instead of stripes...I would be ok with that type of color as it is not a bright neon or something outrageous...
oh, and I did see a DIB mustang last year with silver racing stripes and it was fantastic..my kneck snapped on that one LOL

Took the car down to Los angeles this past weekend to see the family. While down there, drove "the snake" (Mulholland drive). Pulled over at the top and got swarmed by bikers asking me what exhaust I had...and then the compliments about the stance and interior just started pouring in.

so glad i went with the Dark Saddle interior as well.. really gets a lot of compliments

I went back to my old neighborhood to visit my mom and I turned onto a street where some kids were playing in the road. They didn't see me at first so I stopped until they noticed me to let me through and all of their eyes lit up when they saw my car. I felt like the man as I cruised by them. This is the street I grew up on so it was extra sweet for me.

A few days later I was hanging around in my mom's house with the mustang parked in the driveway in front of the house and I heard one of the kids yell, "THERE'S THAT MUSTANG!!!". For the next 5 minutes the kids proceeded to argue over who was going to get a Mustang first . Really took me back to my childhood on that street.

Drove to Auburn today to work the canyons. On the way back, BMW Z4 was entering the freeway. I had to speed up to stay safe. The entrance was near an overpass, so as I passed him, my exhaust sang its sweet melody and reverberated under the overpass. The driver's mouth dropped wide open. He then sped up, got along side me, and gave me the thumbs up.

The only cars that are chick magnets are supercars or super luxury lines like Bentley. And those aren't chicks. Those are called "gold diggers."

neighbor hood kids are all obsessed with my car, my woman was digging it on the test drive and told me if i got the ecoboost she would think less of me (joking). I think everyone loves them aside from the 80 prius drivers i cut off, but yes it is a chick car IMo. This is my 3rd mustang, women cant not love them. If they dont love them, you dont love them. lol
