Hi, everyone.

I just picked up a 2017 GT with the performance pack, 6 speed. I got a great deal on a used model with only 1800 miles, assuming it was stock.

At the dealership, before driving it, when I opened the rear hatch I saw the stock airbox sitting in there. I opened the hood, and voila! Looks like a different intake was installed. Started it up and it also clearly had a non-stock exhaust.

I likely would have made these mods anyway, though I'm not crazy about the exhaust noise...it's not crazy loud, just a little louder than I'd prefer. The car runs great, though the Pirelli's have to go. They spin like crazy with no provocation.

So those mods are really icing on the cake of a good deal..I already thought I got a great deal, and turned out it already had a couple mods I would have done on top of that.

My question is, can any of you tell from the pics of the engine and exhaust specifically what might have been done (what specific make, brand, type of exhaust, etc? Is there any way for me to know if a tune was also done? I'd assume so, but who knows.

Lastly, any thoughts on the exhaust note? Would going back to stock be a bad idea? Probably so, given that I don't have the stock exhaust and I'd be damned if I'm going to pay for a stock exhaust. Ha. Or, is there maybe a aftermarket exhaust that's known to be less loud than whatever's installed? It's not a deal breaker, but a slightly less noisy exhaust would be ideal.

Thanks for any tips or suggestions. I've already changed out the side badges and the shift knob. After the new rubber comes, I should be all set. Really happy to finally have a Mustang!

Roush axleback and GT350 intake? Not really aftermarket mods. That intake alone is a free upgrade. Keep it.

I would change the exhaust if you don't like it.

I have that cold air intake set up, it is the Ford Performance Power Pack 2. It is the GT350 air intake inlet and 87mm TB. I really like it. The only thing that sucks for you is getting around the Ford proprietary tune. This is Ford specific tune. So anything that you need an hand held tuner (SCT or nGauge) for any future mods, you will have to return to stock before you can use the hand held device because Ford "Locks" the computer. I know because I am in the same situation with my car. So if you plan on doing anything else you will need to take your car back to stock.

That means you have to get a stock TB and a air intake that does NOT require a tune or the stock intake and air box. Then you will need to have the computer flashed back to stock by the dealership. Then you can start modding... Maybe someone else might know if you can just bring the computer to the dealership and have them flash it without the car... either way that computer needs to be flashed back to stock.

I only know this because this is what I have to do when I put my 2018 Ported IM on. But since I have the original stock program I can flash my computer back to stock using the flash tool included in the Power Pack 2 kit. Then I will be able to use my SCT x4 and PBD tune for the 2018 IM, 87mm TB, and Cold Air Intake.

I hope this helps. PM if you have more questions.

If it is the power pack 2 did you find the blue ProCal tool in the car? That would be a dead giveaway. Its attached to the computer in the pic https://performanceparts.ford.com/part/M-9603-M8A I'll add these are setup with Ford Performance accounts online. You may want to send a chat on ford performance with the Vin and maybe they can tell if it was tuned by them. Besides the pic of the axle back may want to check if the factory resonator was removed. BTW I know it has low miles but the engine bay and undercarriage look brand new.

I was going to say what jsprek01 said, plus axle-back exhaust. Even though I can't see the throttle body, you definitely have the Ford Performance Power Pack 2. I can tell by the GT350 intake and the right-hand hose that goes from the intake elbow to the driver's side valve cover. That hose is not stock on the 2017; it comes w/the PP2. Same hose I have, though I'm running the 2018 manifold and Lund tune.

Yep, Power Pack 2 is definitely there. Don't go back to stock exhaust.....it is muffled garbage.

Also how does a 2017 only have 1,800 miles?? That's crazy.

If he wants to mod further why can’t he just save the current tune as the base tune and then do what ever extra mods he wants from there with a custom tune?
That way he doesn’t have to buy a stock TB and return to a stock tune.

Depends on if he cares about his warranty or not.

One of the main points with the Power Pack is it keeping the warranty.

The Ford Performance tune now is his stock, warranty tune. All the OP would do (if he wants), is to get a tune, and save the PP tune that's on the car now.

But there's really no need to do that.

What the OP needs, is friggin' tires. Like.....now.

But if he gets a tune other than the Ford one he will void the warranty.

Now I know the dealer shouldn't void your warranty if your going in there fix the evaporator core, but you are taking the chance.
