The cats Ford uses are not really boost friendly. Even the GT500 ones. will not last. They are more designed for EPA compliancy and OEM setups.

Companies who offer the GESI, EcoF, or the GREEN cats are what you will want to do because they are built for higher heat which is from boost. The Stainless Power headers with the GESI option is your going to be your best band from the buck but a lot of people like the KOOKS with the GREEN cats. The LTH Exhaust headers with the EcoF cats will be just as good IMO too.

Let me know if I can help if you decide to go this route.

Don’t think so GESI can handle highest hp. Kooks greens will often not pass emissions.

When I got boosted and even before I went to E85, I could smell my factory cats burning. I did not beat on it either. I immediately switched to kooks LTF and hi flow cats. I didn't have anymore issues

Kooks high output cats are GESI.
The older gen 1 GESI had occasional failures but was often linked to running tunes with cat over temp protection turned off.

The new gen 2 GESI G sport cats which Kooks sells as there High Output Green or Ultra Green cats have a much greater capacity.

I have been CEL free without any issues at 819 whp as well as my buddy at 1070 whp.

I got a 21 gt pp1, I’m planning on boosting next year I’m doing OPG and crank sprocket this winter. I only have 93 available near me in NH going ess or whipped with biggest wheel 8 psi so will probably be around 650ish wheel HP. My issue is I have factory active exhaust with a H pipe and I love the way it sounds it’s perfect for me not to loud to start up in quite mode, plenty loud when I want it to be. I would love to keep factory headers and cats but everything I have been reading is it will destroy the cats and potential melt them and cause engine issues. Now I don’t take the car to the track I’m not going 1/2 mile pulls. I’ve been researching exhaust like crazy and I think if I have to go long tube cat less to try and maintain the current sound I would swap the h pipe and get a borla resonated h pipe I think it’s 60661. Does anyone have experience with these or running factory headers with 8psi boost ?
Here is where I am now. About to pull the drivers side header so I can chop off the cat and round the outlet. Next is fitting the drivers side pipe, and then get the tacked welds tigged

There is no way I can see doing this with the header on the car.

Lol yep! There was another thread where we debated the merits of doing it with the header in place.
