I got a 21 gt pp1, I’m planning on boosting next year I’m doing OPG and crank sprocket this winter. I only have 93 available near me in NH going ess or whipped with biggest wheel 8 psi so will probably be around 650ish wheel HP. My issue is I have factory active exhaust with a H pipe and I love the way it sounds it’s perfect for me not to loud to start up in quite mode, plenty loud when I want it to be. I would love to keep factory headers and cats but everything I have been reading is it will destroy the cats and potential melt them and cause engine issues. Now I don’t take the car to the track I’m not going 1/2 mile pulls. I’ve been researching exhaust like crazy and I think if I have to go long tube cat less to try and maintain the current sound I would swap the h pipe and get a borla resonated h pipe I think it’s 60661. Does anyone have experience with these or running factory headers with 8psi boost ?

I’d look into adapting GT500 cats to your car to have a better shot at them surviving.

I’ve been there with LTHs and blew my cats out. Thankfully I caught it in time (was actually on a rip down the 1/4 mile when it happened to me). Not sure how much quieter the Borla resonated h-pipe will be with LTHs, but I would guess it’ll still be pretty loud.

I have oem cats, I have not had any issue, put about 17k miles on the car since boosted, I am 93 for a while then I’ve been on E85 for the last year and some change. I don’t beat the snot of the car at the track but do get on it every time I drive it.

What are you putting down for power when on 93?

I just posted what I'm doing. 2m Fabricator pipes with Gsport gensi cats spiced it. I tried to post pictures on my reply but it won't work.

I installed Texas Speed catted headers after my stock cats fried. I've only driven about 1000 miles with them and one track day (five-20 min sessions). Hopefully they last. Sound is a bit loud and I am looking at adding a resonator.

I’ve seen a lot of people talk about OPG and the crank sprocket what exactly is it for?

Billet oil pump gears and billet crank gear. It's another week point. I wouldn't worry about it unless you are already in there. For the majority, it isn't necessary.

The cats Ford uses are not really boost friendly. Even the GT500 ones. will not last. They are more designed for EPA compliancy and OEM setups.

Companies who offer the GESI, EcoF, or the GREEN cats are what you will want to do because they are built for higher heat which is from boost. The Stainless Power headers with the GESI option is your going to be your best band from the buck but a lot of people like the KOOKS with the GREEN cats. The LTH Exhaust headers with the EcoF cats will be just as good IMO too.

Let me know if I can help if you decide to go this route.
