Still pondering a whipple but curious if adding it to a 6 spd street driven car adversely effects drivability? I assume a factory clutch will need to be replaced but the Tremac 3160 should be sufficient correct? Is it difficult driving a whipple boosted manual car on the street smoothly?

Only if you’re super clumsy with the throttle.
Lol, well I will admit in sport mode I am not the smoothest with the skinny pedal and clutch. The sensitivity of the throttle in that mode has made for an embarrassing moment on an occassion or 2.
If I drove the car more often then 1 time per month ide probably be more consistent and smoother behind the wheel.

Under say 60% throttle (depends on rpm and gear) the car will drive exactly like stock. No supercharger will make boost while the engine is making vacuum.

the biggest difference will be if you put a clutch like the RXT in and then you have to deal with that twitchy shit

Not a whipple car but I daily my mt82 with twins. It looks stock and drives like stock until I have a reason to go heavy on the right foot. Then all hell breaks loose and the fun begins.

I'm on a Gen 5 Whipple and I have a pretty aggressive clutch. I wouldn't say it drives as buttery smoothly as it did when it was bone stock with bone stock clutch and shifter, but it's not hard to daily. I have put 15K miles on it since we got it running in March and it sat for almost 7 weeks of that time. It's totally daily driver worthy.

These cars are a blast when boosted with a manual. Sure, the A10 or A6 are faster in a straight line, but nothing takes the place of a standard transmission IMO.

I currently have a boosted 22’ GT with RXT and t56 Magnum.

At over 800 whp and 760 torque the car is a complete beast on road. A true drivers car.

I will say the RXT is very jittery and bitey. I’m hoping this will dissipate as clutch breaks in. Good luck and enjoy your build

2013 with an mt82, Steeda triax shifter, RXT clutch and a Roush 2.3. Drives like a stock car until I'm in the throttle

100% agree. These cars boosted with a manual feel outright amazing on the street. I run an lpxhd and I can't speak to it's track capabilities but it's perfect for the street. It's not harsh but never misses an 8k shift.

Just make sure you have good tires. Modulate the gas pedal and you will be good.

Nice. Question, why does everyone go with the RXT? I know for the S197 the Mantic clutches were excellent at holding good amount of torque and still being smooth. For the S550 I hear the Centerforce are great since its an organic clutch so its smooth for slipping and still holds around 900ish whp.

McCleod RXT is basically the “standard” for high HP applications.

McCleod is just really robust…

Mantic are $$$ expensive…so ymmv

I had the RXT in my GT500 and it was a solid clutch. It would chatter a bit on take-off if you didn't give it enough rpm off the line. The stage 3 Vengeance I have currently in my s550 is very similar feeling to the RXT that was in my Shelby. The solution to reducing the chatter is to give it a few hundred more rpm than what your instincts tell you you need, and it smooths right out.
