First tip. Don't listen to other people who aren't well known in the car community. The only reason people prefer to change out of the 3.73 gearing is because the power is harder to put to the ground in the lower gears. I have been on this forum and the facebook pages for nearly a year and haven't seen anyone blow out the diff besides one car I think and I don't even think they were 3.73s. He pretty much grenaded the pumpkin. I think it was a video I seen posted on SVTP forum.
Both replies said the same so I'll just reply to it here.

I don't ever floor my car from a stop but does that mean if I did with 3.73 gears and a power adder I'd be fish tailing all over the road?

Thanks

I can barely control my car with 3.31s. 3.73s would be pointless under 50-60mph

You wouldn't even need to floor it. With typical tires and relatively stock suspension you'd more than likely spin from any moderate take off on the street.

Still have my 3.73's and since I put 305 rear tires on, I get pretty dam good traction. The lack of traction is over blown immensely when talking gears. If u hammer it in 1st gear with a blower, I don't care if u have 373's or 331's.. your tires are going up in smoke. Period. The 331's are nice for the decreased amount of shifting.

Pretty much. If I can blow through 1-2nd by flooring it on just a tune/intake then add an extra 150-200whp to it and of course. If you are pushing that much power you should know how to throttle/control it anyways.

I changed to 331 gears but my car hauled ass with 373"s,at the track and even on a roll.Stayed right with whipple autos on a roll. With the right tire i could put power down pretty good as long as it was not really cold.I changed because i go to the track alot and shifting into 5th gear was hurting my et.I went to 331 and i will see how much not shifting into 5th helps.

With 3.15 gears, 741whp and PZero's, tires let loose at 70+. It's all about throttle control regardless of what combo you have. Once I put on some better tires, should be able to hook from 50 or so, I hope!

Not only for power delivery, but to stay in the power band longer, and not have to shift into 5th at the track.

Centrifugal is more usable with 3.73, with twin screw it would spin all day
That's funny, I'm a centri with 3.73 and 305's and spin first and second uncontrollably, and sometimes 3rd is hard to handle depending on speed.

I just installed 3.31's (from 3.73) two weeks ago. I have a Whipple with 3.625 pulley. My tires still blow off in 1st and 2nd running 305 NT05's. I do prefer the 3.31 gearing and won't be going back.

3.73 here and I love them with the Whipple. That being said I'm going to swap in some 3.31s mainly to keep me from having to shift into 5th when I make it to the track.

As others said, you won't break anything. The issue with 3.73s is traction, you will have fun spinning all over the place. I would install the supercharger and change gears later if you feel like you want it.
