Accuracy depends on the system that's used for tuning. The ecoboost uses speed density for tuning. If your system uses mass airflow for tuning your boost reading will be inferred. The only 5.0 boost application that uses speed density at this time seems to be the 18 &19 Roush superchargers. The ecoboost gage should be most accurate in the 18 &19 Roush supercharged cars.

You will need an OBD adapter, I personally use this one, however there are cheaper alternatives:

The process is fairly straightforward, I also did a few other features while I was in there.

I agree if the data in the tune isn't right per-se, then being as the boost is inferred it will not be correct.

However, in my personal experience, it seems to be right on. My kit is 9psi, and as best I can tell each time I have glanced down, it reads 9 like the picture. I am however running the supplied Whipple tune, which seems to be very spot on as far as I can tell, so perhaps that has something to do with it.

Thats the attometer digital cobalt series boost gauge, it's 52mm or 2-1/16" if you measure it in inches, the standard gauge size pretty much. It works pretty damn good and easy to install, only need to run a switched 12v to kick panel, ground, and dimmer to headlight switch. The MAP sensor itself is plug and play

An earlier post says there is no MAP sensor. Or did that change in 18? Or does the autometer gauge come with a sensor? Sorry for my ignorance, not all up on the technicalities. I just drive the thing

Mechanical is what I "want" but other options would be entertained too.

Electric boost gauges come with their own MAP sensor, that's how they know how much boost you are making with out running a line to the actual gauge like a mechanical one, my Autometer has a 3bar sensor on it

That is a great price because I have seen these gauges like this in the $350.00 range.

Same as @Kona 18 for me but with a mechanical Cobalt gauge. I designed/printed my own gauge holder to I could have it angle towards me for better viewing.

I used a AC vent pod that Juggernaut sells, it replaces any of the three AC vents in the center console and lets you put a boost gauge on there. I used the 52mm one since my gauge was a standard 52mm model. You still get airflow around the gauge too, a 52mm doesn't block the entire vent.

Where did you “T” into for boost reference? The line circled (below) or did you get the Turbosmart Boost Reference adapter?

That looks like the brake booster vacuum line. If it is then no you can not T in there. The brake booster only sees vacuum not boost.

odd. The is pic below is of my Procharged 3.7. Procharger has the vacuum block for boost reference coming from the line hooked to the brake booster. That’s why I thought it might be the same on the Ecoboost.

As others have pointed out, the PP boost guage is inferred, so not really all that useful other than for looking cool.

I think the debutante with the smallest mustache here is to swap out the vacuum gauge for a true mechanical boost gauge that most closely resembles the OEM gauges.

I have a similar dilemma, but my gauges are oil pressure and oil temp, both very useful so I'm not keen on ditching either. And as you pointed out, pillar gauge pods seem a little tacky and obnoxious, so the only other option is an add on center triple pod, which again seems a little tacky (although less so) and starts to obscure visibility.

This is for my wife’s Ecoboost. She just wants them for show. I’m putting a digital boost and digital oil pressure on her pillar, at her request. I’ll be adding a single pillar pod for my water meth kit controller/boost gauge for my Procharged V6. It’s all preference.

The vacuum tree port for the booster only gets vacuum not boost. That’s why I said if it is the brake booster hose it will not work. That is not the brake booster port being used. in both pictures it is not the booster port.
