Hi all,
I've been researching suspension upgrades for the past few months and I've thrown around a lot of ideas and spent a lot of time considering different kits.

Car is a PP1 car, street only, looking to tighten up the handling and remove body roll. Right now my plan is pretty simple
  • Lowering springs
  • upgraded dampers
  • sway bars
  • camber correction
I know steeda is the big name, i know they have a million suspension upgrades available but I'd like to see if anyone has any experience with the bilstein b12 kit. I had bilstein B8's on my last car and they were very very good.

https://www.summitracing.com/parts/bsn-46-281777

I was surprised to see that this b12 kit doesn't have much representation on this forum or on mustangs in general. Has anyone here used it or know much about it? The kit is made up of B6 dampers + custom Eibach springs. So if anyone has used B6's that is also a useful comparison point.

Right now I'm between the ford track handling pack and Bilstein B12+BMR sway bars. The setups are nearly the same cost, but I worry that since the track suspension is OEM it may sacrifice some handling for comfort. I really want this upgrade to tighten the car up and get rid of a lot of body roll.

I had heard some mention about B6's being substantially better than anything from steeda/koni but that was only one time, it seems the Germans don't get much representation in the mustang suspension space.

Anyone have experience with these? Thanks!

The problem with the B12 is nobody can tell .e what the spring rates are and has too much drop. I'd guess the springs are very close to the equiv eibach sport lines.

The dampers are probably b8 which the shorter version of the b6.

I'd get a b6 kit and min drop springs of your choice.

Its only a 3/4” drop which is less than the ever popular steeda sport progressive springs.

I’m doubtful it’s a b8 because there is no b8 for this mustang.

didn’t used to have more drop? I can’t figure out why it’s so rare to see. Maybe more popular in Europe

B6's and Steeda minimum drop here too... love the setup.

Glad you made this thread, I've been going back and forth on doing Steeda struts/shocks vs Bilstein B6s for a while now. I also hadn't seen much representation for Bilstein on here hence my back and forth, only saw one guy with it in his sig and he said it was great. Happy to see others like them as well since I've been leaning towards the Bilstein.

I think you'd be better served by the Ford Performance suspension kit or by piecing something else together, both performance and cost-wise.

I'm running BMR handling springs up front and drag springs at the rear with Ford Performance dampers and love the combo.

I cant wait to dump my B6 because the front is too harsh over high frequency bumps for Ecoboost, even on stock HPP springs. This is at low city speed only. On high way they are great.

I have the B6 dampers with Steeda Ultralight Linear springs (200/800). Base 300A car w/o PP. I think the ride/handling balance is very good for a street driven car. It's relatively stiff and sharply damped but nothing too harsh. Might be too much for those who prefer comfy cruising/touring more than pushing the car hard. I still plan to install GT350R sway bars front and rear.

I read somewhere on here that these cars benefit from much stiffer front springs (350-500) and softer rears (700-750) for best one-track performance.

So this is actually a really tough call because the two setups are exactly the same price, like within $40 of each other.

The only way to know for sure would be to talk with someone who'd ridden in both setups for a considerable amount of time. That is basically not something that exists

I'm sure the ford suspension is great, nice OEM quality. Though on the same point, Bilstein is also an OEM and their parts are also extremely high quality and long lasting. Same is to be said for the eibach springs.
