Radar Detector was my 1st mod a month after I bought the car and got a ticket. That and Waze on Apple CarPlay and I haven't got ticket since.

My other Mods:
Hood Struts
MBRP Street Exhaust
Strut Tower Brace (looks cool )
JLT Oil catch can

Thats it. I didn't want to dump a lot of money into the car. I also have a VW GTI, Harley Fatboy and I'm a Musician. Music drains most of my Money ... lol

Manual transmission? MGW shifter.
A good alternative to a cold air intake would be an airbox from 2018 with a drop in filter like a K&N.
I like that by saying “first mod” you already know there’s going to be more!!
Cheers

Uniden R7 is my pick for "budget" radar detectors.

It just saved my ass the other day. Was about to do a pull on a road and there was a cop sitting barely behind a wall with full lights off lazering at night. Radar detector actually picked up the laser and prevented me from doing a pull right in front of the cop haha.

I just got a 2015 gt mustang over the weekend, I’m itching to mod it up(I’m also somewhat new to the car community)
Any good first mods recommendations would be appreciated
It’s my daily driver and eventually I wanna be able to take it on the track I wanna do both any ideas and help is much appreciated
If that's the car in the photos can my first mod suggestion be removing the louvers?

As for first mods it really benefits to plan ahead. For example why bother doing all the n/a mods if you just want boost.

What type of track are you trying to take it to?

First mod suggestions are always: wheels, tires, exhaust. Get a tune, gt350 IM, headers, e85, and pmas fenderwell if you want to be fbo. Save and go boost if you know you want to boost it.

I bought an Escort iX back in 2016. I'm pretty happy with it and have no intentions of replacing. if I was to buy one now I'd get the Uniden R7. I'd like to buy one for my GTI but I keep spending all my money on guitars ... lol

I agree tho. My Radar detector has saved me quite a few times from getting a ticket. That and Waze is where it's at.

Cool cool, any recommendations on strut tower braces
sometimes you can find factory parts on "F/B MARKETPLACE" or even ebay, just be sure to get all 3 parts, tower brace,k-brace and firewall reinforcer, the lower K-BRACE and splash shield is a nice addition also(these parts are stock on PP-1 cars)also be on the lookout for factory wheels, they're heavier than the aftermarket stuff but there are some good choices, like maybe the mach-1 wheels.i also have factory resonator with borla sport mufflers,my wife likes how it sounds!

Congrats on the new ride. I'd say buy nothing immediately, drive it for a few months, get to know YOUR car. Everyone is gonna toot their own horn about what mods are the bestest because, well, they spent it on theirs, so everyone should do it. Then, once you determine your cars shortfalls, research mods and vendors. Go to shows, cars and coffee, whatever, and talk to owners about their cars, firsthand. Save up your money in the mean time.

If your interested in going around curves...camber plates and a good sport focused alignment with more negative camber dialed in.

Nxtstep axle back exhaust. Sounds deep, no rasp, and remains deep in high rims. It's perfect, made of quality stainless steel, and one of the cheaper ones. Please don't think the lower cost means low quality with thos axleback.

One mod I did that surprised me on how much I would appreciate it was the GT350 steering wheel. Holy crap....not sure why, but it was so satisfying. I might have to put one in my Mach 1 now.
