I have a 17 gt premium with the performance pack. It's about time for a new clutch, what do you guys recommend? should i upgrade, keep oem.... I'm hearing a thousand different things. the car is a daily and I'm not too concerned about changing the performance. I need a reliable clutch with responsive feel. thoughts?

If you got 5 years out of the oem I would say put the same thing in and go to 2027. :)

Only 5 yrs on the OEM clutch??? The OEM clutch on the 2018+ I know is different, better get more than 5 yrs. out of it.

To the OP, if you aren't doing any major power adder I would go OEM.

Yeah, do the OEM. All new. Clutch, pressure plate, throw-out bearing.....the whole 9 yards.

I had the OEM clutch replaced at 19k with another OEM. I'm at 56k and believe there is a problem again. It never felt right from the beginning with vibe when pushing to the floor. So maybe bad install.

I'm in the same boat as you with no major power adders. Just looking for an upgrade to the made in Turkey clutch for 15-17s on the daily.

I found three

1) Southbend single disc stg 2 kevlar-FMK1026 HDTZ $769

2) Lethal street fighter 525 kevlar $459

*I believe they both need a flywheel*

Kinda similar rating at 525ftlbs.

3) Lastly the Mantic ER2 organic/ceremetallic 585ftlbs ....$1285 kinda pricy but comes with a flywheel

Exedy Mach 500 and chromoly flywheel. Have the set waiting to go into my car and I think I’m right around $850 for both. The clutch kit is an HD organic and will hold anything naturally aspirated. It comes with a throwout bearing and pilot bearing.

I liked the Exedy as well. The chromoly flywheel is nice $$$, but it revs a bit faster with less ernertia. When you go to shift the rpms will drop out quicker so you dont have that little bit of rev hang to go to the next gear.

Not a bad thing cause you are saving weight but will take some getting use to over stock or even lightened steel.

Just my take

Mach 500 is great replacement. I ended getting talked into the 600 from one of the sponsors here and hate it. The ceramic disc chatters and doesn’t like to slip at all. I did read a bunch of reviews on both and should have stuck with the 500.

Exedy 500 with the lighter flywheel here. The flywheel wasn’t a world of difference but its nice.

Be prepared to retrain the crank sensors if you change the mass of the rotating assembly.

Try the Exedy Mach 500 with OEM flywheel. I should have gone with this when the original clutch went out April 2021 on the 2016 GT. I replaced it with OEM friction disc and pressure plate. The OEM friction disc grenaded on me while on track a few weeks ago. After some research, it appears the OEM friction disc is genuine crap, and is known to spontaneously fail, and is also the cause of many high rpm lockout issues in the S197s. I cant speak for longevity onnthe Mach 500 yet, but my clutch pedal finally has feel to it in my 2016 GT with it. Never had a decent clutch feel with the OEM units.

Here's the OEM unit (top) compared to the Mach 500 (bottom). Note the thicker band of friction material on the exedy, along with lack of the center plastic bushing ring that the OEM friction disc has (suspect to be high rpm lockout culprit).
