Why does the Ford replacement clutch line have the rigid section along with a braided section? All other aftermarket lines are a single braided section. It seems like braided lines would be easier to route.

Don't know the answer to your question but I got a steel braided clutch line from Steeda about a year and a half ago with zero problems.

Thanks for the reply. I do know that the Ford part is a little less than triple the price of anyone else's. I just don't see the price difference.

Makes sense, but I still can't justify the price difference.

What problems did the stock line give you?

No problems really. I read that stainless, braided cables can improve clutch operation.

IMHO I can see using SS lines for brakes in off road situations, but SS on a street clutch line is extreme overkill unless you are doing it for looks.

It's another one of those topics where there are as many opinions as there are posts. They sure look nice though, especially the Steeda, and hey - they're on sale.

If you live in Texas or Florida, or really anywhere where you sit in 100 degree bumper to bumper traffic, you will, WILL, need this upgrade eventually. The stock rubber overtime in these conditions will actually keep you from shifting out or into gears while you are in the bumper to bumper traffic. Its kinda scary when it happens. If you live up north you will probably never need this because 1 week or even 1 month of 90's traffic wont effect it but year round hot as well Houston weather and traffic will wear that rubber away.

And what exactly happens to this stock rubber line that causes failure in warm conditions?

Supposedly in some circumstances its so hot that plastic line will stretch. The ford line uses solid tubing in area where it gets hot. The flex stainless lines still have plastic liner. So even with new line it should be insulated. How and with what?
