I have looked at other threads to no avail. Like others, I lost two of the fasteners when I put the cover on the top front of my 5.0. I searched forever with a flashlight as well as an inspection camera. So, while I'm not concerned about getting replacements, Is there much of a chance they will cause a problem? I'm thinking if they ended up between a belt and pulley, it might throw a belt? I could see some of those areas but not all. Your experience??

Was riding around with 1/3 up until 50k miles from 32k. Eventually bought the other 2, but did not experience any issues without having them.

I have heard of you guys finding them and fishing them out

Mine was the one closest to the fender, the easiest to reach. But it was my first try, so I loosed it and tried to pull up HARD. It snapped apart, so I have the head of it but the lower half fell in a small gap where the fender meets the engine well

Any hope in hell of being able to find/ remove it from that area (see blue arrow in pic)?

You can get under there by removing the wheel well. You just have to remove the wheel then pop off a bunch of push pins.

I just pulled mine off and put Christmas tree plugs that I had lying around from a boot (trunk) cover in one of my old falcons. They look much better , are one piece, and you push the in and gently pry them for removal. .Added to the fact they are easy to find at most automotive stores.

I lost mine down that hole and fished them out by removing the wheel well lining as mentioned. very easy if you have the pry tool in the kit that Cpl0313 posted. Trying to get those dumb things out with a screwdriver is annoying.

They won't cause any problems if you don't find them though. They'll probably eventually just fall out on the road somewhere.

Just orders that 630 piece kit

Can’t tell you how much money I spend on pieces throughout the years. Thanks.

I don't know about the Mustang, but I had a Ford Scorpio once, which had the battery in the same place, with the same kind of cover. On the Scorpio forums a lot of people were complaining about electrical gremlins, and in most cases the root cause proved to be a missing battery cover. It was such a serious problem that a warning was eventually posted on the main page, urging people to check for the existence of the cover when buying a used Scorpio, and to immediately buy one if they're missing it.

I only have one pin holding my cover on after installing my hood struts.

No cares about it and probably won't even replace the lost ones.
