If you are working on stang regularly you are probally disconecting the battery often. Is it just me or do the screw fasteners that secure the cover suck? They usually fall out and fall into the abiss of the engine compartment. Has someone come up for a fix for this? I thought I would be lazy and see if someone already had a good fix.

I've only lost one so far. I probably should just but a bunch for spares.

Its not just Mustangs though. Here's a mod one Chevy owner did to shake the ones he dropped loose.

Fist thing I thought of was some duct tape a roll of string and a bunch of clothespins. Could make little lanyards for each one.

Take one and visit a SXS dealer like Polaris, Yamaha, or CanAm.
And measure the diameter of the body opening.
They'll be able to match it for a better pin.

I lost two that dropped into the abyss but I found them 600 miles later after using a recovery mirror-stick to locate them on a ledge below the inner-fender, sort-of below the battery but impossible to see without mirrors or engine removal. I was able to grab one with my long arm but I had to use the mirror to push one up the ledge, toward the front of the vehicle where I could grab it.

I don't need no stinking battery covers.

I had the unfortunate luck of having a dead battery this morning, (stupid scan-guage) and lost one of the fasteners into the engine bay. Never did find it.

Also, the hood struts made it so I couldn't get the cover out of the way easy either. I didn't think of that when I put them on.

Someone make our lives easier please and post the PN or where can we get these pesky fasteners (or an alternative, if possible).

This is the part # -W716510-S300. I recently had to order some to replace the ones I lost in the engine compartment the first time I removed the cover in my GT350.

Amazon wants $9.53 for one. I bought them from AN White Bear for $.72 each.

I lost one in my fender. I had to take the fasteners out of the wheel well cover and slip my arm back there to retrieve It. I've learned to pull the fasteners out one at a time before taking the cover off. They certainly are a pain.

Plus shipping. No one does cheap shipping on plastic fasteners like these. So unless you buy a bunch, or already buying parts anyway, it's still expensive for just 3 clips.

2 out of the 3 clips on my battery cover are broken. They just kinda sit there. I'm kinda amazed they haven't come out yet.
