The 4th pic is the JL Audio that replaced the B&O in its stock enclosure
Hey, did your sub fit perfectly (seated on the proper area, not on top of the 'tabs', which require filling the space in-between them), has a dual-voice coil, and you were able to use the stock screw locations? I prefer a grille, but if your sub is a 100% bolt-on B&O replacement (needing zero modifications), I might go with that, instead of the Pioneer, since I'd have to dremel the crap out of it, to be able to use the factory screws and grille. Thanks.

Oh, and one last question: Which 'fader' adjustment powers the sub: front or rear? Wish it had an independent level, but it doesn't. Thanks gang.

I will probably push it further back. I am still waiting until my dynamat gets here and then will push it further back after I get finished putting it in.

I have mine sideways. Further back than yours. But I have mine about an inch from touching the seats so it doesn’t vibrate or anything- look at the shelf above it. Mines cushioned to the circular cut out pieces

here’s some pics sorry I have car loaded for my rad installthursfay

Hi, I used a dremel and filed down the few areas that would not let it sit properly (It took me 5 minutes). It does have a dual voice coil and use all of the stock screws with no modification.

By the time you ever decide what to do and actually fit it you will have sold the car !

You didn't mention how it sounds, but I assume at least as good as the Pioneer, right? I think I'm sold on yours. If you don't mind a copycat, can you provide a link? :) Thanks man.

That's entirely possible. Ha ha. I'm hardly using the car nowadays, so no rush. But I think I might be sold on the JL, if it sounds at least as good as the Pioneer :).

JL Audio quality is a big step above Pioneer. Here is the link.

https://www.crutchfield.com/p_13610W1V34/JL-Audio-10W1v3-4.html

https://www.sonicelectronix.com/item-7253-JL-Audio-10W3v3-4-10-4-Ohm-Subwoofer.html

I'll sell you mine for $175 shipped if you are interested. Mine is like new, as I installed it and then unhooked it and put in the first 12" enclosure the same week, without having driven the car.

JL Audio had a fire in their Japan factory on the 31st of October and a lot of products are now on backorder.

Well I got the Rockford P3SD4 installed and it sounds a lot better than the stock sub. But I think I am going to put in 2 10’s in, I just need a little more bass.

I agree there is only so much a 10" in a small exposure can do. If you want to "feel" the bass, it's not happening.

There are a couple of us that have gone with 2 10"s or a single 12" in an appropriate enclosure. I've settled on the JL Audio 12w6v3 in it's enclosure and while expensive, I'm finally happy.

You are right. This is the box I have with two Rockford Fosgate P3’s in it being pushed by an Alpine 500w mono amp. I put it in the trunk and it really doesn’t use up a whole lot of space. But like I said I never put anything in the trunk of the car anyway.

Those Rockfords are supposed to be really nice subs. I am sure they will sound good. What is the depth and height of the enclosure?

The box is 28.5 x 19.7 x 12.9. Each enclosure volume is .76. Rockford calls for .59 so it is pretty close.
Like I said, I had these in the trunk of a Maxima with the Bose system which from factory doesn’t have any sub at all, and with these subs it sounded amazing.

I do believe it will sound great. I asked for the dimensions because of the fit in the Mustang trunk. In order to sit back against the back seats, the height has be 16" or less, otherwise, it will have to sit well back into the trunk.....but as you said, you aren't worried about trunk space, so that shouldn't matter. I am still waiting on my dynamat sound deadener, as the Mustang trunk tends to rattle quite a bit and I don't like being able to hear that when standing outside the car.

Ya it fits with plenty of room. I have already set in in to see how it fits, I didn’t take a picture though.

Just make sure you fasten it down or have it wedged in tight. The box can and will move depending on how hard you drive. Lot's of subwoofers have been ruined and car interiors destroyed with a free roaming sub.

I completely agree. I formed a woodblock wrapped in pleather (fake leather) to wedge in to keep mine from moving around. I got the idea from FreePenguin on here and it keeps it nice and tight.
