By the way, wouldn't be easier to disconnect the wire connector from the bottom of the sub box, then reconnect it once the wires are attached to the sub? Poly-fil would make it that harder, but curious if anybody tried it that way.
It isn't difficult to connect the wires - just follow my post and make sure you do the bottom ones first to make it easier.

Could you guys post your polyfill purchases for this? How much do I need? I see everywhere from 10 oz bags to 2 lb bags. Thanks.

I used mineral wool insulation, didn't pack it completely but made sure all sides of the enclosure were covered with a couple of inches.

For those that keep asking how much polyfill to use; I'm sure you understand that polyfill is used to make the subwoofer think it is in a "bigger" enclosure, than it really is. First, you have to know what the volume of the stock enclosure is AND then you need to know the recommended volume for a specific subwoofer enclosure by the speaker manufacturer.

This isn’t particularly helpful. I’m not sure that anyone knows the volume of the stock enclosure and Ford/B&O don’t have any specific recommendations. It is an odd shape, so calculating exact volume would be easy (I’m sure it could be SWAGed).

I started with about 9.5oz of poly fill, and with the stock speaker it sounded like the sub was working too hard and distorted almost. So I took out about 2oz, and it sounded much better (too me). Since replacing the stock for the Pioneer, I didn’t change the poly fill amount...and it still sounds so much, much better than stock. Since upgrading and fixing the rear deck rattle, I am super happy with the the sound in the car.

I guess the point I was trying to make is, many keeping asking how much polyfill to add and the answer is, it will vary......as even you verified.

If anyone wants to buy the B&O stock subwoofer enclosure with the JL Audio 10w1v3 subwoofer installed, contact me, as I installed it and the very next week decided I wanted a huge subwoofer in the car. I also have the stock B&O subwoofer. Take a look at my Green Koenig build for pics.

I think we ended up with a similar amount - I bought a 12oz bag and divided it by eye, I used between 1/2 and 2/3 of the bag :like:

You don't want more than 8oz in there. I weighed it, and put exactly 8oz. It was pretty full, but not packed, so right on the money IMO.

I just got my new 2021 gt with B&O
i Have been thinking about the 10inch Pioneer as I agree the base is rather off.
instead of going for a 10inch, what about going for a really good 8” sub. The base will be a lot tighter than the 10 and fitting would be easy with a adaptor plate. Pretty much any 8” dual coil 4 ohm will fit.
Opinions ?

use Forescan and disable factory eq, turn it iff

you’ll get more bass and cleaner music. The bass as stock, is rolled off aggressively.
