No.

I've pretty much always owned mid 90's to Early 2000 hondas (1991 Civic Dx with a B16a, 1995 Civic Vx B18c turbo/ H2b, and a S2000). Unfortunately imo, honda doesn't really make anything that I like from a performance standpoint. The type r is fast but its not high strung like older hondas and it has the visual looks of something a 23 year old would like. The Gt350 is really the only thing that ford has made that interested me.

Nope. But my first 12+ years of driving was in a Pinto. My first new car was an '85 GT (the last of the carb'd cars). But I enjoy sampling the range (within what I can afford) of what is offered across the spectrum of manufacturers.

Not a Ford guy. Or any other mfrs' guy. Just a car guy. Other than the Mustang, Ford is poised to walk away from selling anything I have any interest in owning so they can focus on the kinds of vehicles I don't want anything to do with.

Our first new car was a 1972 Pinto. But Ford didn't have anything that interested me when it came time to replace that car (sorry, guys, I never was a Fox fan).

I am. I've owned 17 Mustangs and four Ford trucks. I always cheer for a Ford in racing.

Yes and no for me. Own a GT350 and a Raptor. Excellent vehicles, but worst service I've ever received. Never would've thought a brand could let me down so many different times across so many different channels. If you could eliminate the dealerships and sell direct, I'd definitely be a Ford guy.

That said, I route for Ford race teams and the Ford community is absolutely brilliant.

Short answer yes, along with Alfa Romeo, if it means what brand has attraced me most over the years and to which I owe some loyalty or affection; no if it means I limit myself only to that brand. Of the over thirty cars I've owned, Alfa and Ford make up about 2/3 of the total, tied at eleven each. But there's others, with Porsche second at four, Honda at three, and a one each of various makes. My current daily drivers are a '17 Alfa Giulia Ti and an '18 Mustang GT, and I've got a '92 Alfa Spider for weekend donut runs. Ideally I'd like a Giulia Quadrifoglio, a GT350, and a 4C Spider, but we all have our crosses to bear.

Longer answer is that Alfa is probably the make I love most with Ford being second, but the next make is a distant third (Porsche or Mazda probably). Whereas my relatinship with Alfa started with my first car purchase in '87 -- a used '83 Spider which started a love for Alfas sold in the U.S. from mid-'60s on -- my Ford dedication started nearly from birth as I had a larger-than-life mechanic grandfather who was a Ford guy through and through. Growing up I saw GM as the enemy and would pull for Ford in racing, rooting for drivers just because they drove Fords, like Mark Martin or Rusty Wallace, and of course I'd love reading about the Ford victories over Ferrari at Le Mans. But when it came to actually buying Fords, I've been involved in only two eras: the SHO/Contour SVT/Focus SVTs of the late '80s through early '00s and the current S550 era. I worked in the auto industry in the mid/late '90s for a 1st tier supplier whose main customer was Ford. I spent a lot of time at the Louisville and St. Louis assembly plants, and unlike others regularly exposed to the wrath Ford typically vented on suppliers, I came to appreciate how Fords were built. I started driving SHOs (over the years I've owned four -- a '90, '96, '97 and '98) and ended up going to Fords for my all-weather DDs to complement whatever garage queen I had at the time (hence the series of SHOs over the years). I was never into Mustangs though apart from lusting after '67/'68 fastbacks. Then S550 came out and I took notice. A friend traded his '11 GT for a '16 GT and then bought a '17 V6 for a daily driver. Driving those convinced me to jump neck deep into Fords again. Even the V6 kicked the *ss of the BMW 330i I was DDing at the time. I also loved/love the syling inside and out. So I got a '15 GT convertible, a beautiful Guard Metallic over tan, 6-spd, and a V6 (also Guard) for a daily driver, auto. The auto in the V6 drove me nuts so I traded that for the Giulia, which is dynamically much better despite being down 20HP. When the '18 GTs came out I loved the changes, even the front, and the '15 went for an '18. To my mind, I have the best complement of cars one can have for under $100k. The Giulia's dynamics are incredible, like a 4 door Cayman. But, in the 4-cyl version, there's nothing particularly romantic about the engine, being a turbo 4, and no matter how good the ZF 8-spd auto, it's still an auto. So GT to the rescue. Chassis and suspension unrefined compared to the Alfa (the GT350 would be a better comparison) but the NA engine is so incredible and the 6-spd trans allows me to play with the revs all I want. Really, depending on the mood, I have the perfect cars.

So to wrap it up, I'm a Ford guy, along with Alfa Romeo. Weird match maybe, but they go together well for me. Always have. I went through a Porsche phase too several years ago but that passed (the current ones do nothing for me). Ford and Alfa are still making cars I love, and they each do what they do (sport sedan and pony car, respectively) better than anyone else right now.

I used to be a Ford guy despite growing up with my Dad being a Corvette guy...I've owned several Mustangs, Probe, Explorer, Windstar, F150...then I bought my first German vehicle...Audi Q7. I quickly became a German car guy. Bought a couple BMW's (my last being a Dinan 550xi) and Wife still loves her X5. When I was ready to get rid of the 550, I was very much done with the post warranty expense of a German car and came back to Ford choosing the GT350 over an M4. If you're a sports car guy, it's very hard to be a "brand loyalist" anymore. There are so many highly desirable cars on the market right now...although most of them are out of my price range.

Nope.

Brand Loyalty is a silly thing when it comes to just about anything in general really. There's so much more flavor when you open up to other brands.

Why lock yourself down - every vehicle can be appreciated for something it's good at. lol There may be some that struggle with something to be good at, but that in of itself can be appreciated too! I'm glad my parents didn't have such a blind loyalty to any particular vehicle brand.. a few friends have to deal with that and it just sounds hard.

Hey kid.....

Until it comes time that you want the hottest car out there and all the dealers want to charge a huge ADM. It is a free market society and you can buy whatever you want when you want to buy it. However, expect to pay and be treated like any other Joe blow walking in off the street without any kind of brand loyalty and a respected business relationship.

Your opinion goes outside of many of the commonly accepted business practices out there. I'm not saying to buy something if it is a dog, but IMHO, ford is (and has been producing) exceptional cars for the money.

I feel like that may have been like that in the past but not anymore.

And what you're talking about is more of a business relationship not brand loyalty. If I build a relationship with a business that sells more than just Ford, I bet I can get a deal on all the brands they offer.

You can be a long time Ford owner, but I bet if you don't have certain status or relationship with someone who is well connected you're not gonna get the GT500 without ADM for example.

My personal opinion, business can't rely on just their existing customers anymore to survive. They have to treat their new and loyal customers the same way to continue to expand and grow. If you want the exclusives perks, build a relationship, not brand loyalty.

Just because I own Ford, doesn't mean Ford knows who I am. In the car world, my relationship is with the dealers who sell me these cars and I have friends in all brands that can help me score a good deal if I choose to buy any car.

As long as Ford makes great products, I'll continue to buy it. But it's because they make something great. I would not support them if they made something bad.

If brand loyalty was hereditary there would be at least one Dodge in my sig . . .

Obviously you aren't going to have influenced any brand loyalties that your parents held. But you do have the choice whether to make their loyalties yours, yours only as mild preferences, or not at all.

If Ford didn't make the Mustang, I would never own a Ford. Owned imports and they're better made. This is my 3rd Ford and it rattles just like the previous 2.
