I just spent a couple of days driving my '98 M3. Compared to that (which is hardly a hard core race car) the Shelby has: a light clutch, an awesome direct easy shifter, an amazing hill hold clutch feature, good suspension comfort in regular mode--all of which contribute to the ease of daily...
I DD mine. I thought it was a touch rough, but recently swapped it out to drive my 98 M3 some (which has a very track focused suspension/alignment. Holy cow, the Shelby is MUCH nicer.
Do our cars have a CDV? The tranny feels great, and I've installed the Steeda spring. However, I am having challenges shifting smoothly at higher RPMs, and it just feels like there is a CDV in the system. I've removed the one installed in my E36 M3. My understanding is that most modern cars...
Follow up--they just converted a very close "spinning brush" car wash to a touchless spray system. I am going to test it with another car first, and I'm certain is does not work as well as a hand wash, but it should work fine for a quick clean.
I looked up plastics suppliers and found more industrial oriented places that were happy to sell me part of a sheet. It is expensive (I recall like $50 for a 4' x 4' piece) but that makes a lot of plates. The key to this material is its very high lubricity (it is functionally slippery) and...
Not handy. That was in the mid to late 2000's, and those photos are on back-up hard drives not easily available to me. But do you have questions? I can talk about how I machined the UHMWP, how I shape it, etc.
Thread back from dead. I'm currently in a townhouse with gravel in the front and rear (meaning no good place to hand wash my new car). I finally decided it wouldn't melt in the rain and drove it in some crap conditions this week. It looks--horrible. There are several spinning brush carwashes...
Top gear did a test--they had the Stig drive a Prius as fast as possible around a track, and an M3 followed--the M3 got better gas milage in that situation.
I've decided I love Priuses--one, it keeps my blood pressure down, and two it is saving gas for the rest of us.
I made skid plates for track cars in the past. Stuck them on with a special 3M automotive tape. These plates (made out of UHMW polyethylene) never detached, even when hitting curbs at over 100 mph. Some got deeply gouged and scraped, but they held on. So with the right adhesive/tape, they...
I just watched the 30+ minute video on the thumb drive that comes in the box of treats that is sent to every new Shelby purchaser. The number of changes between the Shelby and the standard GT are remarkable. Even if you discount those things that matter little in daily 35 mph driving (aero...
Thanks for answering. I was afraid that was the story--otherwise this board would be full of "how I used the subwoofer connector" threads. But I had hope.
I did. I was planning on ordering a '19 GT PP1 and putting a blower on it. Drove several GTs (because it took a while to find a PP1 package to try). In the interim and on a lark, I drove a used GT350 that Carmax had. I liked the GT350 so much more. I wish it had a few more features...
Since I just got mine, I can wait almost 3 years before making a decision. Typical extended warranties don't pay off, unless you buy one to cover known issues with a specific vehicle (for example I had a Chrysler AWD minivan that we put 100K miles on--it was known to have issues, got the...
I've searched, I've seen this alluded to, but I haven't been able to find the answer.
1) Do the 9 speaker cars have the connector someplace in the trunk for a subwoofer (I'm assuming, which is dangerous, that the wiring harness in the back is the same across all 2018 Mustangs)? If yes, any...
Nope. But my first 12+ years of driving was in a Pinto. My first new car was an '85 GT (the last of the carb'd cars). But I enjoy sampling the range (within what I can afford) of what is offered across the spectrum of manufacturers.
