I’m tuned with FBO expect headers. I’m debating on some catted stainless power but I just wondering if the cost justifies the price. Or are headers just highly price noise maker. Not looking street take over power just something streetable and fun to drive

They are noise makers for sure. They also do help with adding power to your car. That's always subjective to your motors build. I'm Supercharged, and having headers on my car really helps my car get the added power to the road. The old adage "gotta pay to play" comes to mind when it comes to the price. But being a mechanic by trade and a wanna be crafty type person who likes to build things. The quality of a header build, and the time it takes to fabricate to me justifies the price. Now also ill say headers are a good performance mod but not necessary if your just trying to make noise. So keep that in mind for the reason you want them.

Based on your post, I'd skip it. Buy a nice spoiler or something like that.

Headers do add power while tuned, especially with E85. Do you plan on doing boost down the road? If you're going to supercharge, you will want headers and the ability to remove the cats if needed. I went with the Kook's green catted headers with intentions on doing boost a bit later but nothing crazy high. We're talking the 650-700 WHP range.

For a close to stock car, I would say 10-15rwhp for $1500+ installed is not really worth it.

For a boosted car, unless you're chasing numbers it's also not really worth it as you can up the boost by 1psi and make the same power. The difference between 900 and 920 is minimal.

Now for an all out N/A car with CJ, cams, ported heads etc. they are pretty much mandatory.

FWIW, my buds Procharged car runs mid 9.7’s through 100% factory exhaust on his 2019.
I'm at 709 rwhp on my gen 1 full stock exhaust. Last time out ran 10.44@130 on a 10 inch DR.

I'm not sure the hassle for me n california of having to remove every two years, worried about being sent to the ref or finding a hot smog is worth the added tenth or two

I was under the impression CJ increases average horsepower across the curve?
It does make a bit more power from 6500-7500 over a ported 18, but the main gains from that are from 7500+ where most other manifolds just drop off. So in reality it just extends the rev range rather than making more power.

I don't agree that it's completely useless unless you go FBO and cams, but it doesn't really make that much more peak power over an OEM like manifold. Increasing the RPM range while holding power steady is beneficial in overall acceleration as the RPM drop with the gear change puts you back in the meat of the power.

That is great to see what the potential is with OEM Exhaust. I would think just by replacing the headers alone, he would pick up 1-2 tenths and 5mph.
