The 15-17 and 18+ model year have different size bumper cutouts for the exhaust tips, so you cant easily swap dual tip to quad tip exhaust.

the stock 18+ cars sound fantastic with oem, 15-17 not so much imo
Totally agreed. I modified the exhaust on my 2015 to get some more grunt. First iteration of this gen had some issues, but I think just about every complaint I could reasonably have has been addressed in the refresh, and especially in the Mach 1... except body panel alignment and rear-seat headroom, but I guess those are non-trivial fixes, heh.

For such a big car the rear seat does totally blow. The corrosion issues suck, I will have to replace my hood at some point. Also wish the suspension was remotely close to "performance" oriented with all the IRS hype. (base GT)

Single tip GT500 OEM mufflers sound GREAT on a 2015-2017 - IMO, that's pretty close to what they accomplished with stock 18+ mufflers.

I tried a Ford Performance X and found it too harsh. Then came up with the single resonated idea and am much happier.
Was there a specific resonator you bought for that setup, or did you custom make it? Any particular reason why you you went with one instead of 2 resonators?

I am thinking of doing something similar. By removing the mufflers, and adding a Corsa track exhaust but with resonators following the crossover on the x pipe.

It was an off-the-shelf Vibrant resonator, but I eventually went to a straight H-pipe for more sound. Also, I don't think it would fit an X-pipe, it needs a lot of runway and the long leg of the H was enough room to weld it in.

I have the Corsa Double H. Sounds good, but I didn't do it for the sound. It was the only H pipe that would allow me to omit the 2.25" chokepoint at the header connection, while still being able to connect to the OEM active axle back section.

I had the FP x-pipe with Kooks mufflers and it was way too loud and the drone unbearable. Replaced that with Solo Performance Mach Thunder cat back and the car is loud enough when I want it and no drone. Utilizes a short x-pipe resonator and J pipes at the back, no mufflers. A bit on the more expensive side, but it has so far proven itself to be worthwhile.
