Got the message, took a while to get around to it, because Life.

Heavy chaffed harness, RH EV. Unable to clear issue after repairs. No bent pins. Swapping L&R harnesses swapped the problem from valve A to valve B. Suspect 1 wire broke when crimped during removal, even tho it ohms good.

Exhaust was not fully installed. Crimp area of pipe should be under the clamp. Used a block of wood and BFH to fully seat exhaust, gained nearly 1/2" clearance on wire harness.

New harness on order. Will update then.

Yup. That's the way it goes. Those harnesses are only like $15 ea. You should be good now with the exhaust fully seated.

Darn. When I got my H-pipe I made sure to cut extra off of it so I could push the piping and muffler back to avoid this issue. You could always do the Steeda or similar H-Pipe to get a nice increase in volume and get a chance to push the exhaust back some :like:

Yep, fuse already replaced and 2x checked after repairs to make sure harness wasnt shorted to itself.

Got the new harness installed yesterday. installed extra chafe protection and rerouted to prevent that hard bend in the unprotected wiring right at the plug. All is good and my AE is back.

Your best option would be to have ford replace it if warranty then drive it home put an X or H pipe on it short and the exhaust. You need to hang the mufflers in the most forward position because your exhaust system will lengthen when warm. Also, as a sidenote, if you track your car, this will definitely be a problem because of the heat created. I had issues stock, had it replaced then had issues again when I did long tube headers and an x pipe. I had it set too long. When I reset it forward this eliminated the issue. The brilliant ford tech thought is was a good idea to put some sort of foil tape insulation on the metal that this harness rubs... The more I go to ford for service the less I want to go to ford for service.

Mine was over $40, I know because I went through multiple.

What was the protection? I encased the RH wires at the bend in silicone.

Yep, I siliconed the exposed wiring right at the plug, then installed about 6" of plastic split conduit on the harness. Instead of routing the harness in a hard 180 right out of the plug to the first support bracket, I turned it 90 and ran it to the hanger bracket. Clamped it to the bracket to keep the harness off the steel structure. Since I seated the all-stock exhaust further forward, I have about 1/2" clearance now.

I may install some self-stick rubber sheeting I have, about 1/16" thick, on that steel bulkhead. If it does chafe, it certainly wont short, not for a long while anyways.

We'll see. If it does it again, I'll go deeper with the fix, most likely involving moving metal.

I'm not interested in X or H pipes at this time, and my car, being an early Mach 1, is out of the 3 year warranty. Heh, foil tape insulation to prevent shorts... thats just silly. I have some serious self stick 1/16" rubber sheet that I'll install on the steel bulkhead today, that should eliminate shorts if it chaffs anymore.

I have a 2019 GT PP1 MT with stock exhaust and had the 'Exhaust mode selection not available' message showing up. Took it to a dealer and they confirmed that the wiring harness was chaffed and needed to be replaced. OEM price for the harness was $675 (yes, I confirmed). Thankfully I had extended warranty and am only responsible for a $100 copay.

Will ask them for the old frayed harness when it gets repaired in a day or two (dealer had to order the part), and keep my fingers crossed it doesn't happen again for a few years after my extended warranty gets over.

I wonder what they are replacing - coz the Ford JR3Z-14A411-H Wire Assembly - Jumper is only $56 online
