From my understanding and hearing reviews etc of other cars, Mustang is one of the best comfortable/ease of access/performance combo vehicle out there that you can get...
Comfortable yes, ease of access no. I'm still in my 20's and there's no graceful way to get out of these cars. No idea how Corvette owners make do, lol.

I mostly get the Old timers at the gas station that want to tell me about the Mustang they use to have. I don’t mind.
The other day I was filling up and out of the corner of my eye I see this elderly man pacing back and forth.. his wife yelled something at him from in their car. He leaned in said something to her and then turned and made a B-line for me..
He seemed very intimidated, but then quietly asked “what year?”
I sat there for probably 10 minutes, talking to this gentleman he was so excited to tell me about “ his old Boss he had” and then when I fired it up his smile was ear to ear.
His wife was definitely more annoyed then I was.
As far as racing goes, yes everyone wanna race. I normally just look over and chuckle ... that normally will piss them off enough to carry on.
I love talking to old men about cars, especially when they are gearheads. Miss those convos with Dad...

If someone asks me to race, I'll say sure;
"I'll wait over here until you go get your car that will have a chance
to outrun me and we'll see."

They usually just peel out or say something unintelligible and drive off..... :cwl:

Let me start by saying that I don't know what's going on in the world these days, COVID-fatigue or democrat-republican or social injustice or something, but anymore, so many people are just dicks. On top of that, for some reason (I'm thinking the color may have something to do with it), I can't go ANYWHERE without being noticed. It's cool once in a while for someone to say "nice car" when you're filling up with gas, but jeez, sometimes it would be nice to just be able to enjoy your car without being pestered. It's constant and it's annoying and exhausting. Wonder if famous people feel like this when they just want to go out to eat.

Case in point: Today my son was visiting his girlfriend at college in Pittsburgh. Beautiful day today, mid-70's and sunny, perfect day to take the Mustang to go pick him up. About a 40 minute drive with everything from back roads to stoplights to freeway traffic. 5 minutes into the drive at a light a young guy and his girlfriend pull up next to me in their beat up SUV and he's yelling at me to put the window down to talk about the car. OK, that's fine. 5 minutes later I'm in the slow lane on a 2-lane 40 mph road and some jaggerass in a diesel monster truck is riding shoulder to shoulder with me and won't pass or slow down. Finally lose him and get on the freeway and ready to move right to the exit ramp and some a-hole on a sportbike decides he's gonna beat me to it and I almost killed him. Had to slam on the brakes and swerve back left. Into the city and park on the street waiting for my son, and have the inevitable conversation with the college kid about the car. Heading home and back on the freeway and a 2010-ish white Charger with huge chrome wheels blasts right up on my ass, swerves left next to me and revs it, then takes off. Dude, really, you have no chance but I could not be less interested. Sigh. Then two dudes in ricers with fart can mufflers and various colored doors and hoods blow past me revving their 0.0001 cubic inch engines. Almost home and get stopped because of an accident, dude on a sport bike laid it down. My son goes well looks like sometimes those guys bite off more than they can chew. Amen, son. JUST EVERYONE LEAVE ME THE F ALONE ALREADY! Anyone else have days like this?
Buy a Camry standard model. Problem solved.

The best compliments I ever had was right after the 6ths gens came out. Got the thumbs up from Ferrari guy. Another time, I was parked waiting for my wife, window rolled down... a guy walked by and said, “that’s bad ass!” The enthusiasm over the new thing in town has obviously waned but I believe the bodystyle will go down as a classic. Ford definitely scored a winner on styling.

It's funny how some people want to get past you just to say they passed up a Bullitt (or GT350, Mach 1, insert any Mustang here....). Kia's, Focus, clowns in 7000 pound 4x4 chipped diesels that think they have something fast because they can blow black smoke.
I understand the tone of your post, so don't take this the wrong way or as an attack.

I wouldn't discount the newer 4cyl cars so quickly. Some of them are quite quick. Even my Focus ST with a modest turbocharger upgrade, if I were to put it up against my 350? I'm pretty sure the 350 would still win, but not by much.

Some of those guys just enjoy playing around with the v8 crowd.

One of my buddies tends to attend alot of the same track events I do. He routinely spanks me around a road course with his VW Golf R.

It takes a practiced technique in the Vette lol

I'm 65, after a motorcycle wreck, various 3 and 4 wheeler incidents and
heart surgery, I've found the easiest way to negotiate these cars as well as
my wife's Sky is to open the door, back in and sit down, then turn.
To get out, it is pretty much the same; open door, turn left, put feet down and lean
forward while standing up. (probably helps to put hand on seat & push while standing)

My 15 V6 was largely ignored, but I live in an area where s550 Mustangs are fairly common. I did get ocasional compliments after putting aftermarket wheels on it. I now have a white GT, so the color probably helps minimize attention. It usually takes obvious mods like nice aftermarket wheels, lowered stance, loud exhaust, etc. to get much attention in terms of people asking about the car at gas stations, etc.

I rarely get people challenging me to race, etc. from just seeing the car in normal driving. However, if I am playing around, revving the engine, etc. to make some noise and have fun, I sometimes get that as a reaction. I once encountered a guy in a V6 Infiniti Coupe who road raged after he didn't check his blind spot before pulling right in front of me. I didn't even honk at him. I couldn't help wondering if the car I was driving somehow contributed to his over the top reaction.

When I want a totally mindless drive where I am truly ignored, over in my slow lane, I take out my Prius.
You might get a different kind of attention in that:

But this requires you to open wide the door, which isn't always possible. If there's another car parked close to you, this method won't work.
