I once had an older guy behind me get out of his car at a stop light walk up to my car and asked me what kind of car i had..Ive had folks pull up along side of me and ask what type of wax i use. My car is a ruby red gt/cs with black wheels. I guess that color combo just makes them go nuts. I Can’t say i get tired of the compliments but sometimes it does get annoying. I once walked into a pep boys and got ambushed by an young employee. He saw me pull up. He ended up walking me out the store asking questions about my car. He had no consideration for my time and space.

We get 3x more compliments about our '91 Wrangler than the Mustang. I guess no doors or top catches people's eyes.

It's a flashy car, there's no escaping that. Imagine how bad it would be if you had a Ford GT. Or, better still, a Lamborghini. :D
Still, I'm surprised that you get so much attention in the US, where Mustangs are a dime a dozen. It makes me wonder what I should expect here, where they're just a bit more common than pink unicorns. What have I got myself into?

Mustangs are common, but GT's are not, and the presence they have is different for the average person.

I’m sure it depends on what part of the country you live in too. There are enough in our area that you wouldn’t think it would be that much of a draw. And again I don’t mind the polite folks who want to talk about it, it’s the morons on the road that bug me.

It must be where you live. I hardly get anyone to bother me. The only people that bother me are diesel trucks and toyota camry's. Mostly diesel trucks... not sure what goes on in these people's minds. Here is my vehicle for reference.

You want attention? Try longtubes, Roush ABs, and a high-flow catted X. My car used to be Nascar loud. People constantly told me they could hear me from a mile away. The cold starts were absolutely brutal! I'm sure the neighbors were pissed every morning. I had people constantly riding my bumper on the highway, minivans pulling up beside me wanting to go... Well... the driver's side Roush AB muffler ended up having an internal rattle that couldn't be fixed so I went from Roush ABs to GT500 mufflers and guess what?

The cold starts are much quieter, you don't hear much when cruising on the highway and it is still plenty loud when going WOT. The best combination in my opinion. I also don't have people pissed off at me anymore nor as many trying to come up beside me to race or tailgating me. The louder the exhaust, the more attention you get. Fortunately for me, I had something unfortunate (Roush AB muffler was needing to be replaced) happen that made me re-evaluate what I wanted out of my car.

I see lots of S550s around here. Every variation too... I4, V6, and V8. I see a lot of V6 S197s too but not too many Coyote S197s like mine. Once in a blue moon.

Let me start by saying that I don't know what's going on in the world these days, COVID-fatigue or democrat-republican or social injustice or something, but anymore, so many people are just dicks.
First, I think there's a lot of hostility going on in this country, plus so many of us have lock-down fever, we're angry and depressed, and then when folks wear masks, you can't see them smile. So you just assume that they are not (smiling) and therefore they must hate you...

I really feel sorry for you single folks, and especially for young kids, students, who are getting deprived of so much in their education and life experiences. But enough about them, let's talk about me. LOL

I hear you, OP, on people bugging you. I guess Mustangs are common enough around here that aside from the occasional Camaro, no one bothers me or asks questions. Then too, I haven't had it that long and I don't get out much.

The worst experiences I've had were in Porsches, but I don't have the time to get into all that.

The most I've been bugged and had questions and people spending waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too much of my time, was when I had the Chevy SS. I took off the badges, but car guys still knew what it was, and it really got tiring with all the questions and comments (all good, but like someone else said above, can't you just leave me along?).

And yes, it's not an attractive car, it really wasn't that fast and everyone else thought it was a Malibu.

My GT is white with the stock 18" wheels. So, it attracts even less attention than most other Mustangs... just the way I like it. People have told me it's loud, but I don't think there's anything I can do about that.

Must be where you live, nobody ever bothers me. I get the occasional "nice car" comment at gas stations etc but that's it. But my mustang is black and completely stock.

I drive around with the windows down, installed the loudest exhaust possible complete with sonic boom backfires, and just enjoy being a bad ass in a bad ass car. Only live once

Let me start by saying that I don't know what's going on in the world these days, COVID-fatigue or democrat-republican or social injustice or something, but anymore, so many people are just dicks. On top of that, for some reason (I'm thinking the color may have something to do with it), I can't go ANYWHERE without being noticed. It's cool once in a while for someone to say "nice car" when you're filling up with gas, but jeez, sometimes it would be nice to just be able to enjoy your car without being pestered. It's constant and it's annoying and exhausting. Wonder if famous people feel like this when they just want to go out to eat.

Case in point: Today my son was visiting his girlfriend at college in Pittsburgh. Beautiful day today, mid-70's and sunny, perfect day to take the Mustang to go pick him up. About a 40 minute drive with everything from back roads to stoplights to freeway traffic. 5 minutes into the drive at a light a young guy and his girlfriend pull up next to me in their beat up SUV and he's yelling at me to put the window down to talk about the car. OK, that's fine. 5 minutes later I'm in the slow lane on a 2-lane 40 mph road and some jaggerass in a diesel monster truck is riding shoulder to shoulder with me and won't pass or slow down. Finally lose him and get on the freeway and ready to move right to the exit ramp and some a-hole on a sportbike decides he's gonna beat me to it and I almost killed him. Had to slam on the brakes and swerve back left. Into the city and park on the street waiting for my son, and have the inevitable conversation with the college kid about the car. Heading home and back on the freeway and a 2010-ish white Charger with huge chrome wheels blasts right up on my ass, swerves left next to me and revs it, then takes off. Dude, really, you have no chance but I could not be less interested. Sigh. Then two dudes in ricers with fart can mufflers and various colored doors and hoods blow past me revving their 0.0001 cubic inch engines. Almost home and get stopped because of an accident, dude on a sport bike laid it down. My son goes well looks like sometimes those guys bite off more than they can chew. Amen, son. JUST EVERYONE LEAVE ME THE F ALONE ALREADY! Anyone else have days like this?
Think that's bad?

Try driving around in a Nissan GT-R!!

Of the 6 situations, only 2 we're actually about you/your car. Only the two where people asked about it.

For the other 4 situations, unless someone directly addresses you, whatever is happening is only about you if you imagine it to be.

Relax....very few people care about your car.

In my area, Small blue collar town 30 mins from Dodge, Ford and Chevy Headquarters you would get attention but not the kind you would like. Lots rolling coal..
